  • Been away for 8 years need some advice please

    Hi all,

due to life and priorities I stopped Heli flying around 8 years ago, now I’m a lot more settled (wife and kids and house) I’d like to get back into flying.

previously I always liked the look of Mikado and the Logos, I don’t want anything too large so was thinking of a Logo 550, any opinions on these? And also difference between the SE and SX?

i will initially be running a low head speed to gently ease back into it, but want a Heli I can grow with, I know midland Heli’s do some combo packs with esc and motor etc, are these any good or would you suggest doing your own build?

i still have my DX7s, am I right in thinking I can just add a Spektrum satellite to the VBar and all is good?

    sorry for all the questions

    Pete

Logos are still great helicopters. I have the 600, and a couple of club mates have the 550. One of whom has kept the 550 longer than he's had any heli. He's had it 5 years now, which I think is a record in the 20 odd years he's been flying.

The 550SX is a true 550 size 3D machine and comes with 560mm blades, where as the 550SE is the same helicopter stretched to run 600mm blades and is suited more to mild aerobatics. It comes with 600mm (or maybe 610mm) blades.

Spektrum satellites and Vbar will work, or there are now other options such as the quad racing receiver with telemetry. That is a fully diverse receiver that you would use like a Futaba Sbus one. Just one unit and place the antennas at 90 degrees to each other.

You don't have to buy the Neo either for Vbar. The legacy mini Vbar and Vbar silverline are dirt cheap on the used market and fly great.
Current fleet: Goblin Thunder Sport (700), Trex 700L, Logo 600, Specter 700, Henseleit TDR, V-Baaa control.
Next heli: I have pretty much everything I want. Maybe I'll upgrade some electronics or something.
