born again heli flyer

Have decided to return to the sport after a long lay off. Am doing ok with a twister CP and aerofly sim at the moment.

I want to buy a nitro heli, my last was an ergo with an OS 45(?) and JR 66 Max radio. But what to get now. I can hover and manage fig 8s with a well sorted heli. also I am managing the twister outside with a little breeze.

So is it Futaba or JR for the radio. Raptor or Evo.

30 or 60 size I know about the costs but I did have a brief go on a 60 once and it did feel more stable(read easy for me!).

Can anyone help Thanks in advance.

BTW I still have the ergo if anyone wants it. Needs main shaft, upper frames, tail rotor case and that should do it. I have a new boom, flybar etc.

I too have returned to the fray after a four year layoff.

If its any help I returned to a Shuttle Plus with Irvine 36H and Futaba FF7.

Gyro is a CSM HL200 with NHP tail mounted Futaba 9404 servo.

Fuel is Contest 10.

Everything else is standard.

Its not the most popular of Heli and equipment but them I'm happy with the flight characteristics of the Shuttle and whilst I'm reminding myself about how to fly the thing again, I'll stick to what I know.

Radio selection is your own choice, but if you plan to join a club then it pays to see what other pilots are using. This is helpful when it comes to fine tuning settings.

The raptor 60 is a nice heli. I have 2 and they fly very well. They are also reasonable on spares, but again look at what being flown at your nearest club.

I have been told that futaba are easier to set up than JR. What do you think of OS. It looks like SC have improved quality since I last had one (never let me down).

Any way am off to North Weald at the weekend and a lond lesson with flyin fish the next. Just want to get going!

dont forget to check out the Sceadu aswell, even cheaper on spares than raptors
