Blinding work mate, your well on the way now, every mishap makes you a better flyer, and teaches you how to control it out of trouble another time.

            Congrats.

cheers wayne ,had a tougher time today it was a bit blustery and changing wind direction i was constantly turning nose into the wind on a couple of occasions i just had to put it down but 7pm it calmed down and i managed a good hover 8-10 mins
boy was i happy now mark at the club has said i should move up a notch and try moving from side to side and turn the heli sideways on but i think I'll practice a little more first as im still a bit nervous

Your taking it steady and not reckless that's good, I remember my first windy day flying jeez it was hairy stuff, but where I'd been training on Phoenix under very difficult conditions when my confidence grew a little many things came naturally, thanks to that piece of software it prepared me with honors along with all the other advice.

Trouble is when your at the sticks it's a lonely world, as unfortunately mistakes cost but you do learn from them.

I'll give you an example of mine from yesterday, I've been suffering from vibration, looking at the main shaft it was hard to say, but doing checks and my on going rapid throttle up tail wag which doesn't cause to many problems but will be good once sorted, I was doing crazy power up hikes after changing a few settings and on one occasion she went left hard, my own fault, so I quickly corrected it and it took three left and right tight turns twice to regain her under control.

Two weeks back that would have ended in disaster, and I didn't panic, the old heart was thumping rather after I landed her but I really find not panicking is one curve to keep under control.

Back to the main shaft situation, this morning I took her to pieces and took out the shaft and replaced it with one of my new Carbon Steel main shafts, once the necessary thread lock had dried after about thirty minutes I had her on my heli stool held her down spooled up and not even a slight shake, she was as smooth as silk, when I examined the old shaft on a flat surface she was about 1-2mm out of true near the three quarter mark on the upper end of the shaft.

This week I've made some fair progress understand how Gyros are set up and I've still a way to go, plus I've never rebuilt the tail gearbox, apart from that I'm slowly covering all the parts so to become self reliant, luckily I have two good mates who are more experienced than I who have pointed me the way to go but I'm pleased your moving forward at an healthy speed.

I don't know about you but even if I practice close quarters hovering (just as Gary, lol) for a battery length I get as much enjoyment as whizzing her about.

A chap came up to me the other day and said years back he used to fly planks and thought they were more fun, OK I thought be nice, so I lifted her up, over he's head took her forward then brought her back sideways on, and landed at my feet, I laughed and said I bet you'd never done that with a plank, he had to admit it was impressive and now he's after he's first heli, I said the BCX2 as he said he didn't want anything as hard core as a 450 so you never know he might even join this place.

Another thing I've found pleasant, you hear on the news of teenagers causing trouble mugging people, beating them up, but I have to say up until now I've found all the kids being teenagers or younger truly delightful, and have asked questions how it all works and have been quite happy standing next to me watching her fly, mind you I'm not exactly a small chap, but that has been a refreshing find, like the other night Gary & I were on the Island and a group of teenagers were playing fottie with a portable goal, trouble was when the goalie kicked the ball out it went right into our flight path, I ask one of them kindly to please move the Goal lengthwise to us and they were more than obliging

This has been a good thread mate, I'l stop rabbiting on now.

hi wayne thanks for that ,you were saying its a lonely world when you're at the sticks and dont i know it,but the help i have been getting from you guys and the club telling me how much i have learned in such a short time have given me a bit more confidence
so i shall start trying some small side to side movements and side on but im still not sure when to take off the trainers and i also have the carbon steel shaft and it has taken a couple of knocks with no trouble .mechanically im pretty good but trying to get my head around the settings is going to be a struggle bye the way how big was the bruise

Keep the legs on as long as you need them mate, I kept mine on until I could Side in hover at least to the right before I took mine off, the rest I'm ironing out on Phoenix

What I done was just crept the nose to the side and took it more and more until all of a sudden I was fully side on.

The main trick is don't get carried away, I know, easier said then done, but I believe pushing your flight knowledge slightly beyond what you can manage is how we learn, BTW I have the same carbon-steel main shaft, for a while I've had vibration, after the arm hit it was worse, new shaft on today and she's well smooth, and I'm well pleased.

The following morning my arm really hurt and was well red, but it's fading now, but to touch it is still an ouch zone, thanks for asking bro'.
