  • first flight,first strike

i took moyesboy's advice and did'nt have my first flight in my garden i went to the club(new member) i had some v/good help from the lads ,after a few hops and bumps and small panics i managed some good hovers some nearly a minute long i lost it a couple of times i think it might have been the wind but on the last flight i pulled it back a bit to sharp and the trainer leg caught the grass and tipped the heli on its side the blades hit the boom ,two blades,f/shaft and boom not to bad for my first crash
i was well happy with that now the other fun bit rebuilding cant wait to get back in the air

thats the attitude mate! rebuild and go again. it does get harder be warned !!its hard to smile after number 3 and you get a moment of self doubt .but then it passes and crashes get less frequent thank god,

I went through a period of leaving the house with a shiny heli and returning 10 minutes later and slinging a pile of broken bits into a corner in the Kitchen. My poor missus learned to say nothing.

Still, as time has gone on this has become a distant memory. Keep trying, is honestly does get easier.

Yep, keep at it mate. Anyone who thinks they can learn to fly these machines and not crash is either a fortune teller or just mad!! Before long you will be up and away and loving every minute of it :-)

                thanks guys
i've learnt very quickly that you have to consentrate 100% at this stage i found my self consentrating on the drift and forgeting the the throttle and then making a fatal error when bringing it towards me instead of away thankfully i droped it before any damage

To begin with you learn every flight.
Then you spend the first flight or two getting back to where you were and overcoming the nerves.
this is why to learn with electrics you need loads of packs and chargers - because you are not progressing until the third flight of the day!

If you can get out flying two days in a row then its a lot better. As with most things, if you can throw a lot of time at it then you will get to the stage when you can leave it for weeks and then come back to it without having to relearn. But you need to put all the effort in and devote the time in the beginning. somewhere on here Richie Clarke posted how much fuel he burned in his first year - I think it was measured in barells rather than gallons .

Of course you have to keep putting the time in if you want to be able to do advanced 3D - even the likes of Aide notice when they haven't flown for a week or two.
