  • My first flight

Well finally conditions couldn't get any more perfect, and so I've kitted up (including a carrier back for the bits should the worst happen), grabbed the 450, wandered round to the industrial estate car park and gone for it!

There was a little wobble as i discovered the difference between the gyro in rate more and a HL, (That switch will be getting checked every flight now )
as I did an orbit around myself, and overcompensating keeping it well clear of an office building.

    After that everything was brilliant!

Got it steadied down in the hover, tried out the differences between ground effect and non.

Was wonderful. By the end of my first 5 minutes I had to have a sit down, let my legs recover

Second pack. Started to pick up on the using the little gusts on the back of your neck to try to preempt the helicopters drifting.

I did notice a slight rhythmic tick on the tail, flicking back and forth about an inch or so every second. It doesn't effect the flight yet, but what would be the likely cause of this? Is it the HS-65MG on the tail lacking resolution?

Anyway, 2 packs through, all back on the ground in the same state it left!

Felt nigh on exactly the same as phoenix! The bigger screen of the real world helps vs the 15" on my laptop. But still amazed how well modeled it is! From the way this flight went so smoothly, I think £80 well spent there!

Finally a further thanks to Heliward for selling me a great heli

Heh, cheers fatmantom. I think it will be a long time before I dare risk it on the 450 though Started practising the inverted stuff on phoenix almost from day one though, so way ahead of myself on that one

Just a shame I've not worked out the reset button in the real world, I'd have been doing loops months ago
