  • .50 size Electric Heli

As I understand it generally .xx sized helicopters relate to I.C. powered ones. As some of you may recall I am looking to put a century airwolf body over an electric chassis. Originally my plan was to use a T-Rex 600E of one type or another (CF or metal etc).

With the kind responses of those in the know, I gained the knowledge that a 600E was approx the size of a .50.

Being fairly new to the RC world, apart from the fact that T-Rex quality seems excellent, is there any other quality manufacturers that are at least on a parr with Align products? and if yes, which are they and what is the model that is equivelant size to the 600E which in turn is equivelant size to a .50?

    Thanks in advance
    Toni

The Raptor E620 is based on Raptor 50 Titan mechanics although it uses 10-12S setups usually and so is more expensive than a 600E but has much more power. I've got a Raptor E550 which is a 30 size heli swinging 550mm blades but when fitting it into a Funkey 50 size Hughes 500E fuselage I extended the boom and fitted a pinion one tooth smaller so I could run 600mm blades, headspeed is down to around 1750rpm which is better for scale and it's still possible to get flights around the 7 minute mark using 6S 5000 packs.

There'll be a 600 blade sized mikado of some sort, then you could use their flybarless version for more scale realism, and completely hammer your credit card.
Flight time doesn't matter, cheap packs will do becuase SCALE HELIS ARE NEVER FLOWN

That would be the Logo 600, again a 10S to 12S heli but I think the frame layout might make it difficult to fit in a fuselage. I recently stuffed my Logo 500 in (again!) and when I looked at the cost of the spares if you ignore the main blades then it would have cost around the same to repair a Synergy N9, nice heli but spares prices.....

I resemble that remark about scale helis, my E550/Hughes 500E was being flown pretty regularly until someone knocked it off the shelf at home and snapped the tail fin in half. I do tend to get bored after a few minutes flying it 'scale like' and can't resist the advanced scale manouvers of loops, rolls and inverted flight

there is also the rjx hurrican and x-treme 50 electrics, the raptor is too long for the century fuz due to being based on a titan and the titan boom is too long

i think its called the knight 600e aka Knight 3de

Its 8s because thats the minimum we felt a model swinging 600mm blades will fly at without over amping the batteries.

the boom might be a faction too long for the funkey fuz too but you could easily source a shorter boom if required.

Purchase made. Opted for a Align T-Rex 600E - Metal Frame and ordered the Airwolf fuselage, retracts and navigation lights for it.

Now I just have the build the rex before I can assemble 'The Lady'. Can't wait

Thanks for all comments and suggestions.

It may be expensive to replace some parts but is has been crashed half a dozen times and is always repaired ready for the next weekend, I only crash it because it is so confidence inspiring to fly that I get carried away. If it wasn't for the cost of the hardened mainshaft (the standard one is made of liquorice!) and the canopy it doesn't actually have many other parts left as it's a really low parts count design.

If it sells now do I get commission on the sales pitch
