TT Raptor 30 V2 vs. Century Hawk Pro

I am new to RC helicopters and am seeking advice about which heli to buy. Do people have any opinions on these two models. I would fit the heli with the OS 37 SZ-H motor.

EDIT: What about the TT Raptor 50V2? Is it not suitable for a beginner to have a .50?

have a look at the hirobo 30 shuttle, spares are cheaper than the raptor, its a nicer heli to look at and fly.

Raptor, hands down....either one really 30 or 50, nothing wrong with getting an overpowered 50, you can always tame-down the throttle curve

Chappers can you define "nicer" in the context of flying a shuttle against a raptor, ive flown both a lot and find it puzzling when anyone says they prefer a shuttle, as I find them very unresponsive and sloppy in comparison, what am I missing?

Bender, the shuttle will only be as responsive as your setup, and the blades, and your Tx settings etc, but I have been told (and its not just cause I have got one) that they are a more stable platform to learn with, and If you get an upgrade or two, they are more than capable of the complex 3d work as well (if thats your bag)

Jaimer, I would consider a shuttle plus kit in your list of options. As for the Raptor 50, it might be a little bit on the powerful side to learn with but people have done it.

Thanks Jamez, I have many flights on both these machines, so I am basing this on my first hand opinions, I would agree that the shuttle is (in stock form)
less sensitive than a r30, though I wouldnt call it more stable, just a bit slower on the controls.
As you say the shuttle can be made aerobatic, in the same way a r30 can be mellowed out a bit, horses for courses I suppose.
The amount of control slop from new on a shuttle is imho unnacceptable though, it might have been ok 15 years ago, but things have got better
maybe its psychological on my part, as so many have turned up wanting to learn on them, and I am usually the one who gets to set them up and get someone started hovering, I have grown to hate the li'll fekkers :lol: , I guess im very biased, but it would be good to hear from someone else whos flown both a bit

I have decided to go for the Raptor 50V2 since I have heard about a lot of people who have puchased the 30 and wanted the 50 version not long after because they progressed quickly. Since I will be spending all of this summer learning and flying I expect to progress pretty quickly. Also I consulted the training organisation who I hope to be taught by and they suggest the 50V2.

The 50 is just a souped up version of the 30 anyway, larger engine obviously turning larger 600mm main blades with 8.5-1 ratio. Longer tail boom, longer tail belt drive. Thats about it I think...

I have a 50V2 with OS Hyper and am very pleased with the heli, far better than my old Nexus by miles!

I run NHP Razor Pro blades which are also great with the heli.
