  • Changing fuels?

    Hi there
I have been searching the net for a while now for info about heli fuel and all the sites tell me the same thing, whats in them, what it does, how to store it etc, but i have some knollage on nitro fuels as i run trucks.
Anyway I have just got my hands on a near new engine, O.S 50SX-H HYPER to fit in with my project raptor 50, and it was running on 10% nitro fuel but for only 1L or near abouts. I want to run it on 15% nitro but also run it on a diffrent brand of fuel.
Im wondering if its possible to make this change without damaging the engine?
I have made this change of fuels and nitro content in the engines of my models trucks that iIown and have had great success with that, by "breaking/runing in" the engine with the new fuel, but i have found to my understanding that car engines and heli engines are not the same and wonder if this technique would work?
    cheers for reading!

    Yes, no problem.
Just run it rich for a few tanks, and then tune it in for power after that.

      No problems at all.
Just make sure you are using a fuel with a high enough oil content.
      At least 18%
      Most heli fuels have 22/23%
      Align T-Rex 600n Pro (Now with 3GX)
      Align T-Rex 500CF(Gone)
      Align T-Rex 450 Pro
T-REX 250, had it since crimbo(bloody tail) want to smash it with a hammer
      T-Rex 700......STUNNING (Thirsty) (Now with 3GX)

Yes it is. You might want to experiment and remove the shim in the head to raise the compression to see which gives the better performance.

I thanked you because you're giving out good advice .

So many people spread myths around nitro fuel, it gets annoying...

Yep, 10% is fine as Evo says, you might have to up the compression a little bit give it a go first to see how it runs.

                I thanked you back

There's a lot of crap gets spread out there, I just try to tell it as it is (in my experience )
                Thanks for the comment!
