  • Which Transmitter for this setup?

Which transmitter would be best for this setup? Bearing in mind I am a newbie and don't really want to get anything too fancy/complicated or features I'd never use as a beginner. By the way this is an ebay machine I have spotted.

    Raptor 30 v2

    OS 32 SX engine

    Century tuned mini pipe

Futaba GY 401 head hold gyro

Futaba 9202 fast servo on rudder

    4 x JR 591 servos

Futaba dual conversion 8 channel FP 138 DF receiver

In the Futaba range the FF6 is the starters favorite,TX only costs about 120 with nicads.
There is another thread running and it looks like it's talking about the same Raptor 30 your looking at , might be worth a look.

Looking at the spec, I would go with the FF6. The model comes with a futaba receiver, so stick with the same brand.

AArgh, I dont want to start a radio war, but honestly I have a lot of time on both these radios and the rd 6000super is twice the radio, im not saying this from brand loyalty (I USE FUTABA), but in this price range, I really think you cant go wrong with the sanwa, it will work with any other manufacturers equipment. and is far more flexible than the ff6
          ok ill say no more

Certainly the FF6 has only a 3 point curves whereas the Sanwa has 5 point... I guess that is a good place to start... I flew a FF6 for 3 years so am familiar with the ins and outs... now have a FF9 for the extra features....

I'd go with the RD6000. It worked for me - you can even have mine if you want it - I don't use it any more.

              Good luck

That's very good of you to offer John but I couldn't possibly accept it for free.
I'm really amazed at how much support there is out there for "us" rookies. You guys have all been great and I really appreaciate the advice & support. I finally managed to get my electric heli hovering (in my garage) and it was such a "buzz" I think I'm hooked.
My next move I think will be to join SAA and then find a club nearby.

                  Thxs again.

Not sure what the SAA is "presume it's an Scottish organisation " - you could do a lot worse than click on the BMFA badge at the bottom of the page - you can check for clubs in your area there and if you join you get 3rd Party insurance cover included in the membership.

The Scottich Aeromodellers Association - A long time ago I used to run the scale plank competitions. A fine organisation affiliated to the BMFA. Where are you located HelinNutz??
