  • Improvements/extras for the Blade MSR X

Hi heli people! How ya doin? A couple of years ago you guys helped me out on finding the right heli for my brother:

    http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/beginners/103633-overwhelmed-panicking.html

I ended up getting him the Blade MSR X. Now I was wondering if you could advise me again. Are there any extras/upgradable components/related thingymijigs that might be good? I'm not looking to spend much because I've bought him a big birthday pressie this year, so perhaps around the £20 mark. I was thinking maybe in terms of battery. At the moment I think he gets around 5 minutes flight time. Is it true that you can upgrade some part of the heli and use a more powerful battery for a longer flight? Any recommendations or suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

5 minutes is a pretty decent flight time, that's about what you typically get with any size model.

How many batteries does he have? If he doesn't have many there's always the option of buying a bunch of batteries and a parallel charge board. I always used to charge 6 batteries at once for my mCPX BL, 20 minutes of charging for 30 minutes of flying time :-)

You can't really put a bigger battery in since more capacity = more weight = no advantage ... at least, broadly speaking. As above, best solution is to have several batteries and parallel charge them.

But for £20 you might be struggling to achieve that. Perhaps just go for a spare canopy or two? Or different coloured blades as a bit of "bling" ?

See below - the glow in the dark blades and tail fin might be a bit of fun!

Well, I ordered whole set of glow in the dark parts but I just had an email to say they don't have them in stock after all so I've been refunded. So I looked for them elsewhere and read some poor reviews that they're particularly fragile and not up to the standard of the original parts. So I'm scrapping that idea and just looking at batteries and chargers. Would this be suitable?

What's it supposed to plug into?

You would also need an actual charger to plug that board into. Something like this:-

          IMAX B6AC V2 Professional Balance Charger/Discharger
SAB Goblin 380 KSE - latest love thang
Lynx OXY 3 - my mini flagship!
Blade 180 CFX - field beater for new moves
Blade Red Bull BO-105 CB 130 X - scale fun flying at the field when the tail isn't broken, which is not often.
          Blade mCPX - sold

Blade Nano QX - house fly of choice
Blade mCX2 - retired but will be back when the kids get a bit bigger

          Spektrum DX8 - for everything
          ne
Xt sim - the sim I started out with
Heli-X sim - my new favourite sim!
