exceed rc eagle 50 battery help

I received a exceed rc eagle 50 helicopter that had been in a crash and lot of parts been broken. I have been able to replace all parts except for the battery which seems to no longer be available anywhere. one battery was Version 1 Eagle50/Walkera 22E battery (HM-22E-Z-34) 10.8v 650mAh 10C and another one was 11.1v 800mAh and both are unavailable or discontinued. I found a battery at 11.1v but at 1000mAh and close to the size i need but the connections are completely different and will not fit. So i was wondering, can i cut the old connections and add the new quick connect/disconnect(only red and black wires) to the battery, receiver, and charger or will a problem occur. Sorry I'm new to this but would like to start learning to fly and have this become a hobby.
