  • Other Half's

    Well, that'll teach me..

My girlfriend can fly a heli on phoenix without too much grief and after coming to the field with me yesterday decided that she'd like a go on a proper heli. So I duly recharged my Lipo's and went into the garden with the T-rex.

A few short hops later it was on it's side, thankfully I was stood next to her with my finger on the throttle-hold switch so I'd killed the power before it hit meaning that the main gear survived and the flybar seems as straight as too, however it needs a main-shaft (I'll swap the flybar anyway), I need to check the feathering shaft, worst of all I had a boom strike now the blades look fine but I've ordered new ones to be sure... The boom ain't great however...

Skyline have already had me on the phone...

Luckily my wife wouldn't touch a heli unless her life depended on it so they are pretty safe. Apart from her lack of finesse when moving them or hoovering round them

haha, well I'm VERY nice to her car so she'll let me drive it (it's a Mini GP Works so they're pretty rare and just as quick) so I don't think it was that, besides I'm going to get her a training undercarriage and we'll try again...

Mines quite happy to let me get on with it. She says if she ever has an urge to partake in our insanity, she'd use my little old bell47.

She even went to Park hall on Sunday and was suitably impressed, especially with young Matts? best flight of the day. (I hoped it would let her allow me to get my Trex500,.....bugger it, I might get it anyway!)
She had her heart in her mouth quite a few times, apparently, have to take her word for it though, I was mingling!

            mingling, love it!

She could fly my old Bell 47 I think it was just a case of one of those moments we all have and kudos to her for trying - she plays the euphonium and the piano and I can barely get a noise out of either so I'm chuffed she tried to be fair. All my fixed-wing stuff is a bit beyond trainer (a Mustang and a Extra 330) level so I'd sooner she tried the helis to be fair!
Gonna get it fixed and get her back on it though, it'd be great if we could both fly - she'll probably get it easier than I do as she's way cleverer than I am anyway!

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Andy

Best be careful about letting her have a go on the sim again... Mrs Leebert started with a go on the sim about a year ago, then got a Blade CX2 at 3D Masters last year and now has a Knight Sport after RichieClarkie let her have a go on his Knight on a buddy box

She has flown all the helis except my Knight 3D and not crashed (yet ).

You guys are so lucky, either your other halves let you get on with it, or even better they are interested in it. My wife got so ****ed off with me, I'm getting divorced over it. How about that for a true heli addict.

Kevinh, if you and RCHW ever split, please point her in my direction please? LOL.
                      regards

See for me i gave up biking so the wife much prefers the helis, and now she can come along and be part of it even if she doesn't fly, she likes the social part of it all.
She has a little picoz heli and has played on the sim, but i don't think she will ever be that interested, she does enjoy the comps though, She loved the 3D masters last year, so we are going again theis year.
