After doing more ambitious flying with 200srx in intermediate mode, I have noticed with most moves when I try and mirror one from another, the right hand move always seems smoother and easier, ie: when I do elevation in a spinning circle it seems smooth, when I try left it seems clunky and not so smooth, is this down to characteristics of heli or technique,

does anyone know the technique of a roll and loop on FP heli,

    thanks

It's because the blades are spinning clockwise, the torque reaction pushes the tail to the right which is counteracted by the tail rotor. Most of the time doing manouvres to the right are easier as you are working with this torque, left hand manouvres are fighting it.

As Gaz says, it's a quirk of single rotor helis. There are two effects that make turning in one direction easier than the other. One effect is as Gaz mentions, the fact that yawing in one direction goes WITH the torque of the body (against the rotors) - the other way requires more anti-torque against the reaction torque effect.

Also however, all helis lean to one side (against the tail rotor) meaning that turns to the left are more "flat".

cheers gaz had a funny feeling it was something like that, didn't know if you more experienced heli guys had a technique to smooth it out and make it a bit more tidy,

yes tom the flat left is what looks untidy hoping to smooth it out with more stick time

You can't really until you're flying quite fast and then you need to roll the heli (aileron) as well as yaw. Otherwise the heli is always leaning to the right slightly ..

cheers tom I am going quite fast both ways, the left even fast seems untidy, it has a totally different characteristic slow or fast even with roll or yaw I prob need a slightly better stick position, i'll be working on it tomorrow if weather good,

Thats really good info from you guys, i was also wondering the same thing a few weeks ago. Honwal not sure what your setup is? i have an upgraded setup on my srx (rakon & Lynx) with a 150% motor power increase, with the banking turns i tend to play with the throttle and cyclic movements to try smooth them out, just alot of practice i suppose.
As for the 'flip/roll' i increased my pitch settings with the 150% power increase, you will also need to fly in expert mode, the first two wont work, i generally get quite a bit of height (just in case) then fly in either direction (right to left for me) using full throttle then just gently ease the heli into a upward flight direction and use quick full downward cyclic to do the 'flip' you can also decrease you throttle half way through the 'flip' but not being CP it wont really matter, you do want to try keep decent head speed throughout the move else the heli will drop pretty quick. i can usually get her back under control fairly quickly and easily, but if you get a bit worried just quickly switch into safe mode to stabilise the heli. hope this helps, one of my favourite helis for sure, so much fun to fly.

cheers andy, I have standard settings with 200srx, it is bound to DX6i with settings I got on YT from earthling with these settings you retain safe mode, I haven't tried expert mode yet if wind dies down today I will give it ago, what TX are you using?

I have seen the power gain vid on YT with original TX, it seems quite easy, also some say a 13T pinion is good to help speed,

NP, i am now running on a DX8, forced purchase as went out 2 weeks ago & the cyclics on dx6i were not working, LHS didn't know what the problem was so i bought the dx8, 2 days later i found a forum about 'pot issues' from a few years ago, opened up dx6i cleaned some contacts and it works fine now lol..
Yea i do also have the 13t upgrade & from fast lads they do 6 & 8 degree pitched blades, ones for standard other for motor power increase.

looked at blades on FL they are out of stock, don't seem too bad a price, will order 13t from midland,

any idea where I can get a throttle hold switch for dx6i, I've busted mine.

Ring Horizon UK and they will sell you any DX6i switch (I think I paid around £4 or so).

Hey mate, I don't know why nobody else has mentioned this - I think it is quite common.
When I started out, I found most moves felt easier one way than the other - e.g. my first circuits seemed much easier CCW the CW, and my first figure 8s, I felt much happier turning away from myself than turning toward myself. I think most people find one direction easier than the other, and have to work on the 'difficult side'.
I really don't know how much this has to do with heli physics...I have always thought of it as being like right-handed or left-handed.

I am finding CW moves easy, which is I would think is down to heli design, due to tail rotor pushing that way, ccw it seems to stall, with more stick time I feel I can get technique better, to be able to iron out turn more forward stick and aileron seems to make move better and going faster helps, when I 360 fast in mid air it just doesn't look good, I have ordered some 8 degree blades and will be putting on a 13t pinion, hoping to get better response and handling,

just getting hang of nose in landing at mo, done four up to now ...LOL.... space I am finding is the key,
