My early days of flying was with a 120sr too but I was only going to buy a DX8 to go with Phoenix but decided a small heli would help too, I ended up flying the 120 much more than Phoenix. After 2 months of solid flying with the 120, I thought 'lets go collective pitch' - It can't be that hard... So bought a 130x and crashed it on the first flight and broke a blade grip. A month later it was a Trex 450 (Flybar) but had the better idea of getting it set up by a professional - The legendary Dave Fisher of 'Flying fish' - The best move I had ever made. He helped me set it up, recommended going flybar-less at the earliest opportunity. I had a lesson the same day, but, expecting to fly the 450 - No! I flew his 600nitro machine under his 'buddy box' guidance, another smart move! (although I can't say it wasn't intimidating tough) I never really got into Phoenix personally, and 2 weeks ago I decided to give 'nExt' a try. I think I've learned more on nExt in 2 weeks as I had with 2 years on Phoenix, and as a Mac user its native, another plus.

I think neXt is great on a Mac. Really getting a lot out of it as a beginner. I've only compared it against Heli-X which doesn't look or feel as nice.

I was a RF user until I tried neXt. Only snag is I'm using my RF interlink controller to use it. If I can find a reliable cable for my DX8, RF7 will be up for sale soon.

I looked at Next and it looks very nice and better than pheonix graphically.
May try it in the next few weeks

                Hi Tom
Pm me your address as I have one of these you can try. If it works you can keep it mate. I bought it as a cable for my DX6i but o dont thinks right as the 3mm to 3mm jack lead only has "mono connections" ie tip and one neg connection. But i don't know it might still work. Theres lots of other cables and adapters in there as well as the USB dongle and a cd with stuff on. You may just get ot to work and if you do thats great.

I built, set up and taught myself how to fly my first heli, on my own, in a field......Raptor 50V2. I did ok. depends how well you take to it i guess, having a good understanding of the control priciples and physics involved really helps, so read and practice as much as you can. I never had a sim to begin with and had never flown anything before apart from a coax cheapo copter and the real time learning was purposefully slow, it will come to you very quickly with the sim i'm sure. But you do realise that this forum isn't called RCHeliAddicts for nothing, it's a slippery downward slope you are on. RC helicopter addiction is a serious thing!

Anyway good luck and just keep on it as much as you can, you are in the best place for help if you need it!
