I am a bit excited at first fly
As the advise was given even if you don't get airborne at least your get used to the spool up then work on heli getting light on its skids & then your soon be getting the feel for hovering & landing.
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

yes been out to-day in between showers, I was trying to get light on the skids and get used to controls, I did get airborne briefly then I bottled it and landed in long grass,

tail rotor break stopped play, great fun, and a bit of a challenge

similar to my first flight with a 450, took off, landed shortly after and the tailblades caught the grass damaging the front tail gears.. bit of a bummer!

yes it is a bummer, was hoping to get more practice tomorrow, I would have thought that a rotor would come as a spare wiith the kit.... still hey ho

Its going to take time so once your fixed imagine there's a ring or draw one & learn to keep within that ring until you've got full control, also try & get your brain thinking left hand as that's the hand that's going to dump the heli into the ground.

this is what I am trying to do within a certain area, it is a fairly big area I figured if I learn the controls within this space keeping heli low flying it high I shouldn't have too many problems, (famous last words)

Back to the OP, if it's cold ( less than 15 C ) windy ( more than 5 knots ) wet ( one drop per minute ) I stay home. OK, I only get three flights in a year and am still at the hover stage after 5 years at it. Seriously though, it's gotta be said, if you ain't prepared to fly in the cold and blowy UK normal weather, you ain't gonna get much flying in at all. Bummer for us old bu**ers innit

mCPX, better than a Phoenix anyday.

That fairly big area has got to get small when you can land in a diameter of no more than twice heli size you've got control, i always use the last min of my flights landing where i took off or if i land further along its controlled to that spot.
Nothing looks more impressive than watching someone with total stick control land where they want it imo.

Solid 30mph with gusts over 40mph is about the strongest wind i've flown a helicopter in. It felt perfectly comfortable to be honest and I recon I could fly in a stronger winds! I spent years slope soearing in gales though so I'm fairly comfortable flying on windy days.

As said above though, forget the prcision flying, just fire it up in the air before the wind flips it and then go big and fast!

Depends on if the wind is turbulent or not. If there are trees or houses in the way it can make a huge huge difference.

I don't tend to fly when its very windy as I simply don't enjoy it. Model size massively dictates what the limit is too.

Also be weary of what people class as wind speed, they guess, how many people actually carry a anemometer with then? true 30-40mph is a lot more than you think.
