I see, that's a bit different to my quad then, which slows to a hover if you let go of everything. What you describe actually sounds quite good.

Edit: Having just flown it again, the nQX does actually respond more like you describe your 200 SRX i.e. continues to fly forward if you let go. It turns out I'd been subconsciously applying the brakes to stop it without even realising! I guess I'm making progress

Good point about settings on the Nano. I've already noted that a programmable radio makes a huge difference. I use it in much the same way to tame my nQX in agility mode i.e. low rates with positive expo to slow the response right down.

Exactly. My Nano is barely able to counter its own draft, but i can safely train CP in the house without killing cats and destroying all kinds of things. 3d flight will come eventually, that's when you gradually increase the responsiveness etc - in my mind that sounded like an awesome thing.

For the 200SRX, the DX6i isn't ideal as you can't easily assign the 200SRX "special functions" - ie. beginner, intermediate, expert and panic mode to it. Personally I think the RTF version of the 200SRX is the one to go for for a beginner.

Any other heli, the DX6i is fine - it's just the extra demands of the beginner-focused 200SRX that makes it less than ideal IMO.

PS. for outdoors flying ...

The 120SR is quite susceptible to wind. The 200SRX will handle outdoor much better. Whilst I learnt with a 120SR, I found that I outgrew it very quickly (eg. 2 or 3 months)

I use 100% Dr and 10% expo on the nano at 90% flat throttle. Flies great with the dfc and brushless mods. It's a bit crazy for inside but I like the settings remaining equal for inside and out.

To to be honest the dfc conversion has made it very stable. Even outside gives it a much longer hands off hover time, really great (stretched to 95mm when I think about it)

Thanks for all the advice, I've won. Dx6 on the bay for £50, seems to be plenty of info online for setting up the flight modes for 200srx

Do your research before you buy the 200srx with DX6. I think the flight modes and panic switch don't work very well. You might want to consider the RTF with TX for the 200.

flying indoors should be left to sports halls.
at home a sim is what you will need!
you won't break anything, it won't cost more than the purchase price and you will learn soo much more in the beginning on a sim than with any heli!
as for the 200srx, I wouldn't, your money would be better spent on a nano cpx, mcpx bl or better still a 130x which taught me a lot when I started!
All of these helis take a beating and have linear servos which do crash very well and I've never killed one, the 200srx I saw last week is on the bench waiting for new servo and main gears after the first crash,so not such an efficient learning tool!plus the self level bailout is great if you wernt moving around, if you were it will keep moving in that direction so I fail to see how it's anything more than a switch you may use once before crashing anyway and for a newbie it's going to be overload trying to learn while thinking about that switch existing.
the biggest problem as a newbie is too much information on one subject in this hobby when in reality there's soo much technology to consider.
weldone on the dx6 choice, you won't need another transmitter unless you want a nitro heli with an rpm governor.
my best advise if you have a windows computer would be to find a second hand Phoenix simulator on eBay, any version will do as they all update to the latest for free :-) if you use an apple computer like I do then there are restrictions on most software in this hobby so a cheap laptop does the trick!
Also put up a specific post for clubs local to you, more people will see it on the forum wall than here, and a club is definitely the way to go, it makes everything much more enjoyable plus you learn from other peoples mistakes ;-)

Phoenix 5 and realflight 7.5 have a dongle that comes with the software. This doubles as the TX cable.
