Hello,
first of all, i'm new to the hobby. In fact, the only thing so far i've flown, is a 3channel co axial toy, basically. Loved it, so after two days of almost constant flying, i immediately ordered something more.. interesting, at least for me as a beginner. An ESky 300, flybarless single rotor 4channel helicopter. Still cheap (i'm assuming i will get at least one or two more before i get the hang of it, but they're cheap enough to replace). So far, so good.
Now the interesting part: i'm considering staying with this hobby, since i have some experience in RC (although i come from RC drifters) - but obviously, transmitters are pretty different to what i'm used to. My plan is, to fly around with the ESky, until i get the hang of it - while also trying to get familiar with 6channel helicopters via training tools (Phoenix etc). But, for that, i need a transmitter.
Now, considering that i'm starting out at the bottom, with basically no experience or anything to show for, i don't want to spend billions of pounds just to find out that maybe boating, or rc planes are more of my thing - so i'm wondering, what is a cheap-ish, yet decent (doesn't need to be amazing) transmitter? I was considering the DX6i, i read alot of good things about it - but are there alternatives in the same price-region, or is the DX6i the one to beat for that price?
As a sidenote, i also looked at things like hobbykings Turnigy 9XR, but.. Well. Reviewers say, if it works, it works well. Don't want to gamble, so a bit more quality than that would be appreciated.
Hope somebody can help me out here.
Cheers,
Rene
