Another newbie.

Hi.
I'm not a total newbie but not far of it. I had a honeybee a few years back and learnt how to hover tail in, but that was about it. Any way I wanted to give it another go, as I really want to learn how to fly, so my wife ordered me a Blade msrx for Christmas. Well long story short, with my bonus from work and my lovely wife I ended up with a small collection. Started with the msrx, then a dx6i with Phoenix sim, then a mcx2, then finished with a nano cpx. Yes, I got a bit carried away!
I'm loving the mcx2, great fun in the house and good for orientation. The msrx is ....... was going to be my outdoor heli, with the ncpx to be the one to aim for. But now I've had a go at the msrx and the ncpx I'm not sure, should I learn the msrx first or just go for the ncpx?! Probably end up using one when I'm waiting for parts on the other one. LOL
I hope I won't be to much of a noob.

Use whichever you have most fun with :-) Seriously, when you first start all of those will help, and they're all tough enough that they'll survive a lot of crashes. The main things are to have an aim when you're flying. By all means have fun as well, but try to start with a few minutes of serious practice if you want to progress to CP heli's.

I would suggest:
- Practice your orientations, work on hovering tail in, nose left, nose right, and nose in. (The last one is hard, just work on bringing the nose as far round as you are comfortable and try to keep it in a stable hover). You can easily spend months on this alone trying to achieve all these on the nCPX!
- Learn where your throttle hold switch is, and practice hitting that before any crash. Work on this in the sim too! Developing that reflex will mean you can bounce these little models without damage most of the time, and it will save you hundreds on larger models!
- Practice flying left and right hand circles, and raising and lowering the model to fly circles at different heights.
- Practice flying clockwise and counter-clockwise figure 8's

Once you get a feel for all those, get the heli in a stable hover, and see if you can drift it slowly backwards round a circle. That will work on all your hover orientations, and is incredibly difficult when you first start out.

And yes, it's going to be frustrating at times, but the feeling when it starts to click is hard to beat :-)

mSRX and nCPX are similar levels of difficulty to be honest. Both are flybarless with "neutral" stability - ie. they won't self-level like the CX2. The mSRX being fixed pitch though has the advantage of much slower head speeds which may be easier for learning with.

Much of muchness though IMO!

I will be following a proper practice plan myxipix, so thanks for your suggestion.
I actually prefer the ncpx Tom. The msrx seams to drift off if you don't counter the inputs, and has a bit of circling effect. With the ncpx you only have to give it a bit to stop the momentum, it's just I little harder to take off.
I won't be buying any more until I can fly the ones I've got crash-test-tomo. LOL

Any large model is usually fine, the smaller models aren't very realistic and are not really worth trying.

That was my problem anyway mate, I tried to run before u could walk and my wallet suffered the consequences!
I have phoenix sim and more often than not use the goblin 700, just because it looks cool lol I have also made all other models bigger anyway though as I just cant see the smaller ones properly, I have a 1.5 meter 130x which is ace haha
