TY. It certainly gets a little crazy below 0.5m (ground effect?), but above that it seems fine for the most part, although yes it does drift to the right so I have to keep making minor adjustments, although I just assumed that was the nature of the beasts.

Well done! Have you found it bizarrely drifts left yet? ;-)Originally posted by 5hane View PostWell after playing with the neXt Sim for a couple of days I have finally unboxed the MSR this evening!
I attached training gear (pictured below) and off I went. Within minutes I was flying albeit for a few seconds at a time. After 2 batteries I had some kind of control but wasn't achieving forward flight. Eventually I worked out that the battery wasn't far enough forwards in the cage. Once adjusted it was fine.
All in all it was a great first run and will try to keep up the practice then eventually bind it with the DX6i.
A big thanks to all of you for getting me off the ground

Hi. Thanks for the suggestions. From what I can tell it all seems to be running fine now, and yes i agree, I should def support the developer. I will make sure its running smoothly on the mac before commiting to the full version.Originally posted by if hilipjdall View PostWell I for one like supporting developers, and I think they deserve the 74 euros as it is a ghttp://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=580508eat sim. One license lets you install it on two (or maybe even three) machines, which is nice. Personally I think 2 minutes at a time isn't going to be enough to really get your head around it!
On my imac I have set it up on my vbar control which was really easy, but on my MBP it's running through a chinese dongle and 14sg, which was a bit of a pfaff in getting to work but certainly is doable. Did you look at the setup config page?
Transmitter Calibration
As stated in the blurb channel one sometimes isn't transmitted so I had to reallocate it in the tx so it came through channel 7. If you didn't have this problem just ignore!
Yes I did look at the setup config page, but much of it was over my head (lots to learn); dead zones / disabling flickering chanels etc, and ive not messed with any of the settings on my tx. However i created a new model / named it sim neXt / set the swash to 1servo90 [after reserching that], then went though the stick config within the neXt software. That was all new to me so felt pleased to have done it.
I scrolled down to the transmitter settup section, but they didn't mention my dx6i, so I have no idea what needs to happen there, however my untrained eyes can't see any problems when I start flying the models.
So hopefully im set now?Last edited by 5hane; 28-12-2014, 08:16 PM.

That was how I eventually configured the sticks, although I didn't do the chanel reverse you suggested, or should I start over?
I wonder if ill need to bother buying the full version of the neXt sim, because the 2min time limit with the trial version is helping with the basics.

It appears I may have figured it out myself. By ignoring the onscreen sticks, I went through the onscreen calibration instructions and it is now all fine. The onscreen sticks don't appear to equate to the actual stick movements i make.Originally posted by im m hane View PostMerry Christmas all. The good news is the tx appears to work with the ebay cable, the bad news is setting it up is driving me nuts. For some reason I cant save the stick modes. I assume it should be set as: "Left Stick- Elevator and Rudder / Right Stick- Pitch and Aileron? Problem is whether I set it at that orany other configuration, nothing saves. I push the left stick up, but the onscreen stick goes right. I push the left stick left, but the onscreen stick moves right. It just doesn't make sensekto me. All that said there is no obvious save button, all I do is either hit the X or right click the screen.
Any ideas please?
I don't see any point changing any of the settings of the sim model I created within my dx6i, as it appears that is all done within the sim software, or am I wrong?
Still, I'm pleased to be making progress even if its slowly

Hi Peteski. Cool, yes please do let me know, and yes I will certainly let you know how I get on with the cable. It did seem a bit of an overkill buying all this cable from eBay. It also came with some mysterious looking USB dongle thing. I'm sure it will all become clear during the coming week of family Christmas chaos.

Thank you. Glad I asked just in case I deleted anything by mistakeOriginally posted by tomatwaldenasked ju944Some DX6i's that came bundled with the 450-3D RTF package had settings pre-programmed into banks 9 and 10. Otherwise, they're normally blank when bought just as a plain TX.
Best plan - clear the memories. All too often people have weird problems caused by settings that are a hang-over from a previous model.

As I try to fathom the DX6i, I've noticed that it has already got models programmed in, which ars obviously the previous owners, unless the DX6i comes with models preprogrammed??
Should I somehow delete those models?
Also, one of the models is called Sim. Does that need to go too?
I'll be hooking it up with the neXt sim once I know how. I recieved the cable today.
Thanks
