newbie with skylift

hi all

just bought the skylift this week, my first rc aircraft and i am getting on well despite being a complete novice - i've had a couple of 'gift' lessons on the real thing and read a flight manual, so am reasonably familiar with the physics of it all (he says!!!)
one thing though, when she gets to just unstick, there is a dreadful urge to fly backwards, which i have to correct with full fwd cyclic i.e. it is completely beyond the range offered by the tx trimmer - once airborne (2 feet altitude) it is better but still has rearward bias big style
before i go lengething the swashplate bars etc to bias it fwds, i just wanted to get some advice from guys who know a bit more

Hi Neil

The skylifts share the same swash plates as all the other Twisters and after a knock they can come apart, check that both halfs of the swashplates are clipped together properly on the front and rear rotors as this will give the symptoms you have described with being unable to trim out.

Before flying check that both swash plates sit level and are not tilted backwards after you have switched on the heli.

The skylift will always want to go backwards just as she lifts off, then should (I say should) settle out once airborne, if she's still going backwards when airborne and you are sure nothing else is intrinsically wrong, as simplyraptor says the swashes can come apart a bit, then one turn only at both ends on the helicopter's left hand side, anticlockwise, fly, rinse and repeat until she is level.

BTW I'm in the process of that right now with my own Skylift, just rebuilt after trying to upgrade the radio system (unsuccessfully).

a bit of feedback - checked the suggestions by simplyraptor and jboweruk - all is ok but thanks anyway guys
had a stroke of luck - my local model shop (i was in purchasing more blades!!!!!!) said to check i have fitted the replacement battery carriage correctly, as the cg could be wrong - i checked, it was fitted correctly as per instrictions, but a mate checked the cg which was out, so we experimented by moving the battery progressively and guess what - it is MUCH better nor - thanks to Cubitts Models, Trowbridge, Wiltshire for the line of inquiry
