  • Amount of vibration/movement in main shaft

    Hi,

Me again ! Still learning on the CX2 and very good fun it is too. However after a few more 'little' bumps I'm thinking that I will have to change the two main shafts as when you run it up to full speed the top of the head moves. My question is though how much indicates time for a new shaft? Looking at the design from new it's not exactly rock solid, there is a fair amount of play and flex.

As a quick survey when you run your CX2 up to full whack whilst holding on to it, how much distance does the top of the rotor head shaft move/flex through?

All help and comments greatly appreciated and used!

    hi mike,

any movement will mean a new shaft really.. it will be causing nasty vibrations im guessing??

    so get them changed!!

as for the the top rotor shaft sliding up , as long as its still in contact with the gears at the bottom it should be fine but i think theres a colar with a grub screw underneath? (near the gears) maybe try tightening that and it will stop any movement!

    cheers,
    Tom

basically yes, the top of the rotor head does not 'appear still' as you look at it, it moves left and right by about 4-5mm when rotating.
