It’s not the crashing or the expense or the learning it’s just boring and when free time is a prize possession i am wondering...
You have an interesting hangar of helis for someone still learning to hover! Are you flying the 200SRX in beginner mode? If so, you really should start transitioning to forward flight. Figure 8's is the usual first move. Take a look at the vid below of my when I was just starting. It's my old mcpx v2. You can see I move it around left to right. I move the nose around a bit, but fundamentally the heli is always facing away from me, or at most, side on.

From this kind of left/right swaying, full figure 8's, then nose-in follow quite naturally.

As were posting inspirational vids i'll post one of my 'learning to hover' vids & my very first forward flight by just telling myself it was the sim (FMS).

Yes the big sigpic is coming back

I'm sorry, but something is wrong here - bored must be be the wrong word.
I've been playing this game now for three years and I've NEVER been bored.
Frustrated, depressed, annoyed, skint, irritated, yes, but never ever bored.
How can you be bored with something you REALLY want to do, and haven't mastered yet?
If you love flying and really want to progress then practice on the sim and for real - hover, swing the tail around, do lazy 8's, big 8's, nose-in, stall turns, loops, flips, rolls ...then it starts getting tricky..
If you don't get a real kick and love every progression then it's really not for you..but boring it is not.
        IMHO

its probably a phase and a weeks break may do wonders who knows

So at present maybe the hobby?
Helicommand HC3SX worked wonders for me... stopped me crashing completely and allowed me to progress without any fear of a crash.

The idea that it takes away the skill is not true if you don't turn on self-leveling. I leave all self-leveling off but have the bailout on so if I get into trouble I hit the switch, it self-levels and climbs. £100 saved! It just gives you the confidence to start to expand your horizons and start to have fun.

I have an HC3SX on my 550 and 600 and wouldn't want to fly anything bigger than a 450 without one.

Don't forget too that it is actually a pretty good FBL controller even without the bailout.

              sim - lessons - progress - re-engaged with hobby.

Phoenix is a great sim and cheap

Plenty of people offering lessons throughout the country. Tell us where you live and someone will know someone.

Sorry, he didn't specify what helicommand he is using so I presume it was the old style. 3s or 3sx both have horizon mode except the 3sx has captain rescue which Im using on my 7hv.

I sometimes get a bit bored with guitar playing but then I take the advice that Joe Bonamassa once gave and buy a new/used guitar. Maybe buying another heli would invigorate your interest.
Helicopter pilots get it up quicker.

Great thoughts guys . I live in more or less a studio flat and a few days back the whole place was full of screws and tools and just about everything. It was in my face 24/7 so last night i just cleared away the whole lot and took some up my mates. It is weird but i feel more comftable now. Thinking hard on it i need organisation and that's hard in a small place. I have odd plastic boxes etc but in the end even they stack up. Different screws spent half my time looking for them to fit the right size and lets be fair the 450 screws are pants with stripping so i will look for some stainless steel ones i heard about. As for Helicommand what different opinions you have which makes for good conversation and debate and i am still 50/50 on it . Time is the other essence and i do have the Phoenix but my god i can see great use for doing new moves but hovering once you get most of it in the field hovering, but on the sim ( just hovering) is painful so maybe 'Boring' was the wrong word so more i guess 'In a rut' as working all day and finding the time is so hard and now the evenings are closing in where does the real practice fit in. As for a club yes it has it's plus and negative points ( like all clubs )but nobody is prepared to buddy and the reasons given is that if it crashes then its down to me for costs but i have no problem with that but they do as fights have broken out now and again not physical but just bad atmosphere that can ruin the club and also some were charging money behind the club's back which obviously got out and again it upset the club community so to speak. Thanks for the offer to buddy up but i am not near by but thanks anyway. I hope i have answered all your quiries and given my thoughts and Sorry a bit of a ramble but i think that is what this section is for so i am using it to my best ability.

Yes but learning without a club must be impossible. good advice is given do not get me wrong but when it comes to fixing setting up the Heli and flying you are on your own out there and that can cost you lots of money which i just think is not necessary really. If i ran a club to buddy up would not be against the rules but maybe after the hovering and straight flying you are on your own and that is why most buy a helicommand to save money. You 'WILL' crash but with it if you can save the odd one it pays you the money back. So i think without the buddy then the command has its use but with the buddy it does not. Just my two pennies worth

I also think that the younger you are the easier it is to learn as my kids play the play station and had a go with a 450 and i was amazed after about their 5th flight how good they were but then they are into the driving games with tiny little movements at speed and i thought that's probably why?

Correct me if I am wrong here, but your reluctance to do anything else than just "hover" is due to a fear of the additional costs when you crash (which you will do!!!). May i respectfully suggest that you are indeed in the wrong hobby.Model Helicopters and expenditure of lots of money go hand in hand, that is the nature, rightly or wrongly, of the beast

You say that they wont help you fix your heli , well that is down to you and I would think most member would agree. Being given help setting up is another thing.as for buddying we were speaking about it the other day and most member at the club didnt feel good enough to try it .so may be there to scared to buddy you and remember the members are there to fly there machine .and sometimes thats all they want to do , and if they help you make sure you appreciate it , as they dont have to help

Slightly different tack from me. If the cost of crashing is the root of your fear then put the big heli to one side and get either a mSRx or nano CPx. You will crash but the repair cost, if any, will be pennies compared to anything bigger. I've come on leaps and bounds with these 2 helis and am happy pushing my boundaries each time I go out with either these or something a little bigger. I looped the nano a number of time last night for the very first time. All but one resulted in failure but no damage at all. Ordinarily these are indoor helis but with our current high pressure system they are just great thrashing around the corner of a grassy field.

Learning does not have to be an expensive journey. Putting in a ton of sim time is a MUST to gain muscle memory & make corrections instinctive. Where in the UK are you too?? There's a lot of guys 'and ladies' on here who would be willing to help out in anyway they can.
