  • helicopter dieing?

hi, i have a twister hawk. just brought another battery as i don't get enough play time
the thing is lately the helicopter seems to get week quick, with the throttle up it barely keeps off the floor and even with the new battery....
although it does seem more manageable in a weekend state! this seems to be within 5mins max.
also another thing is there any way of get the transmitter compatible with pheonix flight sim? i have a usb lead but nadda

    thanks jase.

If your battery is NiCad or NiMh you won't get long from it. 5 mins sounds a little short though. LiPo's, although more expensive will give much longer flight times, but need a dedicated charger, and need balancing, not to mention great care charging, as they can explode if you get it wrong!

I'n not familiar with the Twister Hawk. Is it an Esky model? With Phoenix you need the original dongle that comes with it (if you bought it second-hand and haven't got it then get back to the seller as it's useless without it). If you have the Phoenix dongle, then you need an adapter for your transmitter, available from ebay for about £8

      Hope this helps

Contras seem to be dieing ten the the dozen lately, everything tells me the batts aren't getting a good charge, you haven't by accident over used them, the charger I think works the same as the standard BCX unit, and do the red and green lights flash after a full charge indicating a bad batt, or is your new batt acting just the same.

When she fly's does she drift quite a bit, or is fairly stable? as a bad pot mix can cause lack of power.

Do the blades move freely by hand by chance? I'm no expert, however the charger might be packing up (possibly), from my own experience I find charging the Li Po's from a 12V Motorcycle batt seems to enhance there performance, as I went through a stage where my BCX2 batts seemed to die after a few minutes, when I converted to a 12V power source for charging it was like a new lease of life of my batts.

Ron's pretty much the expert in these cases, and I'm sure when he see's this thread he'll offer more than I.

BTW, how long have you had the heli?

OK, so on average has she flown at least twice a day since ownership, if so new motors may be the answer here.

both motors needed replacing... still cheaper than the 3 in 1!!
after playing on pheonix all weekend, i was gaggin to fly it.
alot more stable now! unfortunitly i got too cocky in the front room and snapped a blade before the battery ran out!!
luckly i gotta spare now and took it outside and ended up flying into the swing and chipped another 2 blades!!
                            oh the joys
