  • 1st Flight Advice (Before I try)

Well roughly in 2 hours (once the little on is in bed) I will be taking my madden voyage and cannot wait. I think I will be trying out the Walkera Genius 1st! Bu due to lack of any instructions I wanted to check how to start off. So from what I have gathered put all the tri adjustors to the middle, switch the Trans on, sit the heli down. Attach the battery. Wait up to 20 seconds till the green light is on. And then away you go. Is this all right? Also if the heli goes up, down, side or back / forward with no input do I need to land, switch off before adjusting the trim adjustors or can this be done while it is still powered up. Any other advice? I am getting rather excited

With the little Walkera Genius I found hand-launching to be the way to go. Slowly increase throttle, and as it becomes light in your hand, you can let it go briefly, see which way it wants to fly, and trim that out until you have it hovering nicely.

If you are going to launch it from the floor, note the skids will catch on carpet very easily. Consider putting a sheet of paper under it. Flying off a table can be tricky, too, as it will 'fall off' the edge as it comes out of ground effect!

Well all went well! manage 8 flights yesterday and 3 so far today, no major crashes, managed some spins etc the V3 is quite easy to handle, the Genius is damn hard!! can get it hovering in one place nulike the V3. But this is so addictive

The genius can be a finickety little thing.

The servos aren't great; check they move vaugely accurately when you move the sticks. The genius has a reputation for being very sensitive for a coaxial; you only need small, brief cyclic inputs most of the time.

If it tends to move in a circle, this is the dreaded 'toilet bowl effect'. Whole threads have been written on the subject. IIRC the problem is often bad upper blade tracking, unequal blade tightness (sometimes loose works good, sometimes tighter is better), or a bent inner shaft.

                      Yes a Beer was had

I do like the size of the genius but not convinced it is set up right! the instructions on set up are awul. The bit I am not sure about is the bar that goes from the fly bar to the first set of blades, now this is threaded so it can be lengthened or shortened, not sure of the correct length!

The V3 however is so stable, I even managed to fly one handed.... perhaps a tad daft so soon but I could not resist!

Th only thing I cannot do is get the tranny working on the sim!

there is no set lenth for the flybar rod. it will only need adjusting if your blades are out of track. and its causing a wobble whilst hovering(toilet bowl effect.. T.B.E)
