I went for a 600e.
my theory [which may be naive and completely wrong] is...
lipo costs will come down in price to the point where battery costs are not so off putting.
once those are taken out of the equation the next large cost items are the blades.... for the 600 there are loads of options.... for the 500 not so many... so potentially better value for money to be had
it is bigger in the air... and that makes me more confident I can fly it, and see it.
lately there also seems to be loads of people selling up 600e setups - so bargains can be had on spares
