Please help me fix this helicopter!

Hi, I hope this is posted in the correct place.

My girlfriend bought me this really basic rc helicopter but the shaft (?) has fallen through the bottom and the gears on it no longer connect to the motor. If I move the shaft into place myself it will fly until it falls again. It seems like something simple has gone wrong but I can't find any pieces fallen off etc.

Respectfully… it may be broken beyond any worth while repair. The time taken in finding parts (if its even possible) and fixing it, you could have bought another for about £25. These type of heli's don't usually last long… they are more of a novelty and not particularly durable or repairable. Of course we most likely all started with one But they usually go the same way yours has in my experience after a while.

If you are interested in something a little more hobby grade try the E-flite Blade range of micro helicopters.

try going to e-bay and type in the name and model of your helicopter and add "parts"
it may just be a case of a missing bolt out of the bottom of the shaft
its a bit hard to see from one picture

Looks like a collar is loose or missing to hold the shaft up. Is there a collar on the shaft?

Take the canopy off, check the shaft, there should be a screw holding the collar/sleeve in place, next door neighbour had one, they are pain in arse to fly, I had to balance nose with lead to stop it driftin back and it just wanted to kill itself by flying into fences, controls are crap and you need to learn a whole set of useless juggling. Best thing to do is let it die, no offence it's a POS wallet emptier. Dump it now, maybe get it working but lace it with petrol and shoot fireworks at it!

I do tend to agree. Shelve it and go for something else. An old hand might try to sort it but otherwise no!
