  • Trex 450 S or Blade 400 3D?

Hi guys...trying to decide on my 1st 'proper' heli (I have a Blade CX2 and a HB CP2 - which I find a real handful if there is any wind!).

I was almost decided on a Blade 400 3D, but was just checking around on prices of a 'similar' Trex 450 and found this http://www.heliguy.com/Electric-RC-H...rex-450-S-RTF/ - which is a RTF Trex 450S with the same radio gear (I think) as the Blade 400 3d for £400 (including case & carbon blades...)

Can anyone who is familiar with both models give me some pros/cons of either? I've tried to find some blurb on what the various models of Trex 450 mean...i.e. S, SE, SEv2 ? I don't mind spending £400 compared to say £280 for the Blade, if you guys think it would be a better long term bet....but please bear in mind I'm bound to bin it a number of times so cost of spares/ease of repair is also a factor!

    many thanks in advance!

    cheers,

    Jonathan

The 450s is a far superior heli to the blade, but having a look of that deal the gyro and servos dont look great. Now if your willing to spend a bit more to get the 450 over the blade you may be willing to spend a little more on

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Align-Trex-T-R...QQcmdZViewItem

This setup has very good internals, would be an incredible nice heli to fly, fully 3d capable or easy to calm down for a beginner. The old saying on here is 'buy right buy once' and is very true. My 450 started out as an S and is now nearly an SEv2, but i dread to think how much is has cost me to upgrade, probably two times as much as if i had bought a SEv2 in the first place. Also the gyro is the most important thing not to scrimp on, the 401 is an excelent little gyro. I flew a blade the other day, it did fly but was rather twitchy, my 450 in comparison is incredibly stable. Spares for the 450 are slightly more than for the blade, but are much better quality and still very reasonable and probably easyer to get hold off. Sorry to ramble on but if you can stretch you budget a bit further it will be worth it.

Totally agree, I have seen the Blade 400 3D and although an excellent package/price the T-Rex 450SE v2 is a much better proposition if you could stretch your budget.

yes the trex is better quality than the blade but £400 for that spec gyro and servo's dosen't make it £130 better!!

This custom built package finally makes a top of the range RTF Trex affordable. We truely believe this is one of the best Trex 450 S RTF package available for under £400.

top of the range????? misleading or what

I've gone for a second hand Trex 450 SE in the end, however, when I was looking at new stuff, the Twister Storm with a Spectrum DX6i at approx £250 was nosing ahead. Cheap, and bling. Worth a look to see what you think anyway.

              Trex 450SE V1
              - Futaba 2.4GHz.
Bladerunner Micro Mosquito - The toy.
              Pheonix -
The less expensive way to crash.

I didnt have a good look for the best deal, but if your after a 450 make sure it has a GY401 gyro with either a 9650 or 9257 tail servo and Hitec hs65 servos. Also you may want to invest in a decent charger, the Cellpro 4S will come highly recomended on here, it £50 to £60 iirc.
