  • Trex 500 build,,What middle of the road parts

Hi All,I did a impulse buy on ebay,,,,,YES MY BAD as im not sure what i have bought ,,
I have ended up with a trex 500 frame fitted with 3g and no other eletrics
Because this eletric mode is all new to me ,what servos motor ect would you think of putting in
Would you source the alinge parts or is there better kit out there for the same sort of cash?
I am not looking for topend gear as it seems a waste as i am only at the bunny hop and hovering stage
or plan B keep this for spares and look out for another 500 complet?$_14.JPG
    Thanks

You need mid size servo eg ds510 x3 ds520 x1 70amp ish esc and 2600 6s packs are good balance flight time performance motor I think is approx 1600kv from memory and a flybarless controller of your choice

Hi Gixerman thanks for that,How do you as a flyer rate the HK servos and motors?

Nowt wrong with HK motors. Some servos are good enough ..read the reviews.. but parts like horns may be difficult to source fast a crash. HK gears are useless IMO - tarot parts better although i just had a dud batch of tarot mushroom gears that stripped in moderate flight. If this is for tooling about, circuits etc then it'll sevro you well For hard 3D you'll want to go trex parts.
Gorilla skids and a tarot ally bottom frame saves heartache if crashing as often as i do.

First proper bunny hopping day and i endup with 3 broken helis all easy fixs thank goodness
stripped tail gears on the pro, feathering shaft on the se2, new feathering shaft and a mane shaft on the clone,,,,not bad going on 2x5 mins out lol

Hi Fenman, just wondering if there's something you could do to keep helis in the air little longer. Are you tipping them over or bumping them down? Either way you could help yourself while learning by toning down a few settings. If heli is jumping up n down like a kangaroo change your pitch curve so it a bit flatter, less positive and negative, then you won't be driving into the ground so hard. If it's tipping over and hitting in sideways you can dumb down the aileron/elevator servos, raise the expo % and lower dual rate. Once you are more confident you can lower/raise settings again.

Go for all ALIGN, the ds510's arnt great, but gear sets are available at right price and easy to change ' and you will be needing gear set's, by the sounds of it!'
Align 70 amp esc is very good, and the 500MX motor is probably the best to date for this size heli.

You are only up the road from me, so if you need some help m8, get in touch via PM and ill send you my number.

                Hi
Yes i did land a tad hard with the pro and the front gear stripped out.on the v2 i tilted ,that bent the main shaft and the fethering shaft,I am waiting for replacment parts to arrive before i can fix.
I did drop lucky on fle bay and have picked up a flybarred 500 with training legs,so that could be the way for me to go,thinking that the bigger it is the more stable it is..so may relearn quicker, even if the crash repairs are a bit higher?
Thank you Alfie I will pm you as i have a request
                Thanks

I started off bouncing a 450 on training gear, amazing how hard it seemed at the time and how much your heart races when heli gets 3 inches off the ground and you imagine the world is going to implode! It is sooo much easier without the training gear but you have to make the leap forward, and obviously train your brain to thumb wires what to do. Invest in a sim, plenty available on tinternet, I have phoenix and it can be boring but if you concentrate on one move at a time you can speed your brain to thumb training without the expense of crashes.
