I couldn't help having chuckle while watching that vid', the adult having all the action while the kids watch, any bloke here who had a Hornby Train Set while a lad will relate to this very easily.

Hey on the subject of Kites, does anyone here remember during the late Seventies early Eighties a kite that was a foam plane with rotating wings with circular ends on each, I think it was called "Rota Plane" or something like that, they had one hell of a pull when the breeze was willing and the craze back then was to paint them up so the colours formed a pattern while the wings spun round.

Yeah, the vid may not be stimulating, but we're missing the point here guys. Lucky kids! We had a teacher like that at our school - into kite building, code breaking, wide games etc - brillliant!!

What better way of firing a child's imagination?

Cambs flyer - yes, I remember the toy. I had one myself, bought in France in about 1972, used to make a nice whirring noise too! And who says it was just a toy - I use it in my aerodynamics lectures today as a great example of the instability of the movement of centre of pressure with changing angle of attack (the toy's sadly long gone)

At least it flys, which is more than i manage with my helicopters, 3 Min's of the deck and 5 days waiting for bits to fix it, I wonder if Phoenix will put that in model section for me to get some practice on. I want one.

Talking of old projects, does anybody remember making whirly birds from a wire coat hanger and a tin can lid.
