Hi everybody, I have just joined and am looking forward to learning from people with like interests. I started with heli's about 6 months ago with a simple Double Horse 9053 3 channel which was great fun even though it wouldn't go backwards or forwards. I quickly advanced onto a 4 channel electric heli, this gave me a taste for the sport. I then purchased a Hirobo Plus heli' with collective pitch and a size 3.6 nitro engine which was in need of rebuilding. I enjoyed the rebuilding and preparing for radio test. Thats where my problems started and hope that somebody can give me information for a remedy. I purchased a Turnigy 6sx radio assuming that a six channel radio with 7 channel reciever would be adequate to control my 5 servo helicopter. Although I have studied the instructiuon manual time and time again, I cannot get it to operate the servo's correctly. The problem seems to be that there is only one heli setting which is for a 3 channel CCPM with a swash mix. When operating the right stick on mode 2 all three swash servo's operate instead of just the elevator or aileron servo's as directed by the stick. If I set the swash mix to zero, then there is no actuation of the servo's at all. Am I missing something obvious. Hope someone can help.
    Thanks in anticipation.

I have never used a Turnigy Transmitter so I really cant help you, but a Perfect Transmitter to start with would have been a Spektrum DX6i, enough channels and very easy to program, you can pick one of these up on ebay for around £50 and a AR6200 receiver would be sufficient for your helicopter, these are going for around £25.00, if your thinking of running a governor way down the line then you would be better off with a 7 channel transmitter. Also, welcome to the forum :-)

Mike I so wish you had posted here before buying I can see no way of the 6X allowing you to setup a Heli, it's not able to be setup for single servo which is what you need. As above you really need a 6 channel programmable Tx. The shuttle you may experience issues finding spares, you may have been better with a 450 electric of some sort there are some good combo packages out there. What gyro does the shuttle have and please get someone to check it over before putting it in the air

Thanks for the info Phil. It does look like I am going to have to sell the Turnigy and replace with a Spektrum.

Thanks for the advice, from what you say and the other members also, I will have to change to a different transmitter.

Thanks for the info. I have only just come across this web site and I wish I had found it earlier. As for the Hirobo Shuttle plus, I was fortunate enough to purchase a job lot of new spares which have been more than adequate to rebuild it. I am confident that the rebuild will be ok, but I take your point about getting someone to look over it before I try to fly. The Gyro I purchased is a GAZ 126 as the gyro that it came with wasn't encapsulated and looked a bit suspect. When I purchased the gyro I asked for one that would be suitable for my size of helli, so that remains to be proved. I live in Morecambe in Lancashire and am not aware of an RC club near me, maybe someone could enlighten me.
Always will welcome any advise, and thanks again.

                  for shuttle spares
                  look at midland helicopters
                  leamington hobby centre (lhc)
many model shops may even have spares
eddie1293, inwoods_2012, colinhkcm, modelandhobbyworldlancaster2010, etc in the hirobo section on ebay
plus keep an eye on the bmfa web site
there are millons of shuttles lying around un-used so new unused and used parts often show up

the radio will need replacing to suit the shuttle unless you fit the eccpm conversion
but a new/used radio will be cheaper in the long run

the shuttle was the begginers heli of a few years ago so spares are about
if you ever get stuck for parts in the uk then 'world of heli' in germany and 'rcjapan' in japan are a good reliable source of hirobo parts
