  • How do you store lipos?

Whats the best way to keep lipos? At the moment I try to fly every weekend. And my batteries just sit at around 20-30% for a week till its time to charge for the next weekend.

Storage charge is about 50%, but I do the same as you and just run them down to 25-30% and leave them! never had a problem with any of my packs all the time I've been flying. If you were leaving them for any length of time, then I think storage charge would be the way to go and I'd put them into storage mode. Other people may have different ways, but IMO leaving them ain't gonna do any harm.

Some say I fly by the seat of my pants!!! All i know is, there are plenty skid marks.......

For a week 20/30% should be fine. A storage charge is nominally 50%.

A cool place is good for storage. Many in the US use their fridge. Not sure I'd get away with that one! (For flight they should be warm to get the most out of them).

Most importantly, LiPo's are inherently a fire risk. For safety's sake I'm sure many will recommend a fire-proof container e.g. An old ammo box. Away from combustibles (not under the curtains!).

Probably best in a garage. Many also use cinder blacks to separate their batteries, so that if one goes pop it doesn't take the others with it.

There is are regular, very comprehensive threads on this in the main discussion on HF.
