Hi All
I have been trying to learn to hover using XTR and a supplied Raptor 30 v2, and its not been easy. I can now move around where I want, and hover for most of the tank fairly stabile within a couple of foot radius, all tail in.
A few things that have helped my
1, PC performance, I found it easier when I maximized my PC for XTR, i.e. stopping my anti virus, and other programs that had been running in the background.
2, Modifying the pitch settings of the supplied XTR Raptor from 10 to +10, to the build manual settings for a beginner 0 to +12
What I want to know is how good a hover do I need to hold before I take my first lesson? I have not been able to take a lesson up to now because of the birth of my baby son a week ago, but I am hoping to start after Easter. Will a foot or two radius, or maybe less on XTR be good enough? Is XTR a life like learning experience anyway?
Chris.

if you can hold your hover within a rotor space then your doing well
in reply to the sim to get the heli to hover it takes lots of small inputs to keep it there once youve learned this youll find it second nature at the sticks and wont even notice youre doing itRich

Thanks Quattro, it looks like I am ready
I knew about the little movements, did some RC buggy racing years ago, and you don't get into a real car and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock driving down the road.
I have lost count of the number of hours I have spent on XTR, and it looks like I was being a little to harsh on myself, which maybe your problem swash.
swash I wish you luck.

Hi Chaps,
I think many of you will find, as I did myself, learning to hover very difficult indeed to start with. The trick is to get as much practice in as you can until the small stick inputs needed to maintain a steady hover will become second nature. Eventually something will just seem to click in place and you will then find hovering easy and probably wonder why you found it so difficult in the first place !
Keep at it chaps, it will come, I promise
Cheers,
