Tail servo faulty ?

Hello I have just finished my first Heli a Raptor 50 V2 and was advised by the model shop to use a faster tail servo I agreed and he sold me the Futaba FP-S9001.
I finished building and moved on to setting up all the sevos and gyro all fine but the tail servo seems to stick until i move it a little by hand, it works a few few times with the radio and testing by moving the heli for the gyro check but then it will stop until I move it again.It seems a bit loose too can anyone tell me if this is a faulty servo it eas sealed and bought new..

Sorry for the length of this first post but I don't want to set it up if there is a fault with a servo...

Before I would assume a duff servo, I would try the servo in another channel just for a test.

I would also read up on gyro/tail servo setup on here which is a great resource of raptor info, it may be the nature of the gyro causing this behaviour.

Please remember I am beginner like you, and I am sure an expert will reply soon.

Convinced it's the servo took the horn off and ran in another channel without the gyro and it gets stuck until I give it a little help by turning it a little by hand then it's ok for a few times back and forth then gets stuck again..

if youve run it without the gyro and it still does it then its got to be a dodgy servo take it back

Whenever you setup the rudder, always plug it straight into the rx to check the direction and throws are correct. That also shows if the servo is dodgy. if it's sticking without a load, it's suspect. Take it back.

The 9001 is ok for the rudder, but is not a quick servo. You may as well as used a S3001. The point to consider is that to get the best out of your gyro, you need to look at servos twice as fast as the 9001. If you have the money rather look at a something like the S9404. There's also digital which are much more expensive, but would suit the gyro even better. I have used the Hitec S9525 which is digital, fast and costs around 50.00.

How fast/ expensive is the S9404, as I to have to replace a tail servo, see my other post in this forum for more details.

The speed of an S9001 is 0.22 secs which is only 0.01sec faster than a S3001 and costs about 27.00. The S9404 is 0.11 secs and costs around 60.00. If you want to go digital, look at the S9254 which has superceded the S9253 and is 0.06 secs, but costs around 80.00.

Just about all gyros work best with servos at speeds of 0.12secs and faster.

Thanks for all the help and advice it was indeed the servo that was faulty took it back and had no problems getting it changed for a Blue bird BMS-620MG that seems to have a lot more torque and is faster than the Futaba just need to get it all set up corectly now...Thanks again...
