  • Which Electronics / Electrics / Tx for a T-Rex 450 SE V2

Thanks to everyone who helped me decide, via my previous thread, to go for a T-Rex 450 SE V2 as my first proper heli.

Now I'd like some advice on the electric bits - Motor, ESC, Batteries, Charger, Servos, Gyro, Transmitter, Receiver (and anything else I might have forgotten!).

A couple of comments of my own to start with:-

Having decided on a fairly expensive option for the heli itself, I don't want to spoil it with poor electrics. I'm sure the law of diminishing returns applies though, so I'd be naturally drawn towards things just behind the cutting-edge.

There seem to be some, "Deals", around which include most electrics with the heli. Do any of those offer good value and decent bits?

Ditto Transmitter / Receiver / Servo, "Deals".

    2.4GHz seems the way forward?

I appreciate I only reqire 6 Channels for now but is there merit in going for 7? (Maybe to operate an accessory such as a Flycam or to accommodate a more complex machine in the future?)

    All comments gratefully received.

    Thanks,

    Chris

The SE V2 comes with motor and ESC, and even blades and a battery.

    Servos:
Cyclic: Hitec HS65MG are what most people seem to use (I use HS65HBs though which are also fine)
Tail: Robbe FS 61 BB works nicely for me.

    Gyro: Futaba GY401

    LiPo:
    I use FlightPower 3S 2170s

    TX:
I and most others I imagine would recommend either the FF7 2.4GHz or the Spektrum DX7 (read up on both to make a choice either way, although I prefer the Futaba), with their respective receivers. 7 channel will be better when you progress to IC and you want to start controlling the governor.

You could save a bit by getting a 6 channel TX (eg a DX6i) but by the sounds of it you want decent gear so you won't regret the extra for the better tx.

DEFINITELY go 2.4GHz though - 35Meg is a nightmare on the SE V2 and is the reason a lot of people on here made the switch (me included).

    Charger:
Check out the Bantam range, but if you get a non-balancing charger I would recommend the V-Balancer.
    T-Rex 600 Nitro Pro (Futaba BLS451s, GY611 + 9256)
    T-Rex 500 ESP (Align DS510s, GY520 + 9257)
    T-Rex 450 SE V2 (Hitec HS65MGs, GY401 + Robbe FS 61 BB)
    T-Rex 150 (Stock)
    Futaba 14SG + FF7 2.4GHz, Mode 3

You might want to look at this
      http://flying-hobby.com/catalog/prod...oducts_id=2278

Everything you need, ready built but as various people on here have said, check that the screws have been locktited.
If I hadn't got an SE of fleabay thats the way I was going to go.
Having said that I am still waiting on some weather to fly it.
