When you say up down movement, do you mean feathering shaft movement or at the blade grip movement?

There should be a little movement across the feathering shaft as the rubber damper deform. This is normal and part of the design. Too much movement, ie sloppy, is not good. Make it very rigid and the response increases. Assuming that you're pretty new to helicopters, I'd say you don't want it too rigid yet.

The o-ring dampers on the Blade400 are pretty crap and wear out very quickly. I suggest that when convenient, you nip down your local hobby shop, taking a spare feathering shaft with you, and ask for some suitable silicone fuel tube to fit snugly over the shaft. It's dirt cheap and you can then slice pieces (~2.6mm) for use as a damper. This is stiffer than the stock o-rings and a lot harder wearing.
