  • Model Technics fuel

Hi I know most model technics fuels are no good for heli flying but does anyone know if it is safe to use Model technics ProPower 10 on a OS32 sx H

I understand it has 18%synth oil.

Just wondered if it is safe to use it before I **** up my motor.

I will be getting some wildcat 15 or 20 soon to save all this unkown hassle

    cheers Gav

It's quite likely to be fine. I highly doubt it will do any damage to your engine!

That said, I recommend to people that you don't swap and change fuels so if you are planning on using Wildcat, why not start out with it?

    Cheers,

      I use Contest 10, also 18%.
Fine. Not sure about Propower formulation, but may not be too far away.

Log onto their website & see if there is a use chart

technics and other fuels also mixed by technics never seem to be as consistent or powerful as the american fuels like magnum and wildcat.

I was a big fan of Coolpower 15% until I tried Wildcat 15%.

It contains 18% of 100% synthetic high grade Klotz oil. I have found my model to start easier, run cooler and not eat glow plugs since I switched to it.

            Also 1us Gal of 15% = £12.26
            1 us Gal of 30% = £14.35 (oil mix is 21%)

So I'm better off in pocket to

Not sure of the exact difference, but a US gall is smaller than a UK gall, so volume for volume, cost for cost??.

It must cost a fair bit to transport too.

I don't get involved in extreme flying (I wish!!), but have never had an issue with MT fuel. I know virtually everyone else has their favourite tipple.

                  It's a bit like beer I guess.

There are actually people in the world who think that Stella Artois Wife Beater is decent beer but we know that isn't true

<Hi I know most model technics fuels are no good for heli flying....> ???

                      Where did that come from?

I've never used anything but Bekra fuel since it became available, and never had a problem! Two thirds of the British F3C team use Bekra exclusively, and have done for years!

One guy in our club was actually threatened with banishment if he didn't stop using a certain well known US brand, after he nearly choked the whole club with smoke one hot, calm afternoon!

A US gallon is only about 3.75 litres, whereas an imperial one is 4.75 litres, which makes US fuel a LOT more expensive!

Im just got put off instantly by all the gunk that comes out the back and the residue it leaves on my pipes. Thats why i wouldnt use any model technics fuel at all now.

Unfortunately what you lose in quantity with certain US fuels you gain twice in the smog they produce.
I've tried magnum & am not overly impressed it works ok but the smoke is far to much for our small field. I have ran MT Propower in my OS 37 with good results & would recomend it.

This is not anything to do with MT per se but a fact of life with castor based oil rather than synthetics.

Although having said that a large percentage of MT's fuels are still stuck back in Gimmerdom and rely heavily on Castor

Propower is very clean otherwise I'd leave it alone as well
