  • Inverted circuits

Spent a few weeks on the sim doing upright stuff and now I've decided to give inverted circuits a go but I'm struggling to rewire the brain. I've been at it every night this week and I still can't get it to go round smoothly.

Are there any specific tips, tricks or shortcuts you guys can share or do I just have to wait until the brain has been suitably rewired

When you say you can't do it smoothly what do you mean, are you getting the control input wrong or something else

Sim time every night this week?? It's only Wednesday!!!!!!

Took me months to nail inverted circuits you inpatient little whatnot!

Have to say i found it easier to do backwards inverted circuits rather than forwards. Both sticks down and left or down and right seemed so much more doable than opposite corners.

Ultimately plenty of time getting your orientations sorted inverted and then practicing travelling left and right in a straight line learning the inputs to keep the model level and to start moving the nose/tail round with the rudder and then try to combine it all together slowly.

make sure you can hover inverted in all orientations first, it will make the transition to inverted circuits much easier and it will make recovery easier too.

I practice inverted circuits so much I can fly them better than upright lol!

A tip that Shauny gave me that has really helped me with orientations is to fly figure 8's. When you come to the middle after flying an 8, switch orientation. Upright forwards, upright back, inverted back, inverted forwards. The hard part becomes the switching smoothly. It can be a little frustrating at first but stick with it.

I slowed the SIM down a bit and amongst other things it seems that when I'm trying to push the nose up my thumb is making its own decision and doing something else then the heli hits the deck.

Ok so I'm eager to learn, I did the orientation stuff last week so I'm quite comfortable with that and flipping rolling in different orientations etc.
I had read somewhere that backwards inverted was a little easier that's why wanted to nail a few nose first to start with if that makes any sense. Just tried it now though and after a little while managed a run of about 10 reasonable circuits, just clockwise though so I'll come back to them later.

Gonna try these routines, oddly though I can do what he calls the stretch stuff already, did the loop before I could do upright circuits a couple of weeks ago !

I like this but I'm going to get a bit more consistent with the inverted circuits first and then drill these each night, thanks.

Can't do much more than hover the 130x in the house and it's a bit windy outside in fact while I was out I was blown over three times, so it's the SIM that getting a bashing.

Ok so while I have the sim a set a bit slower and after taking note I've managed to get into a bit of a groove and completed several clockwise circuits, gonna work on anti clockwise tomorrow and then try to finesse them both before doing the flip 8 thing, think that might have to be next week though.

I learnt nose in first picked it up faster then took me ages to do tail first circuits. The first time I tried tail in took me an whole hour solid on sim before I cud do my first circle. So it takes time to learn but stick at it

Another little tip I found useful was to mix up my sim practice between upright and inverted practice. When I first started inverted practice my upright flying suffered a little as I was only practicing inverted all the time. So I would do 5-6 mins inverted practice and then 5-6 mins upright all orientations nose in side on etc..

These days my practice on the sim is to start off doing 5-6 mins upright very slow controlled pirouettes clockwise and then anticlockwise. Then the same inverted in both directions but really slow and trying to keep the Heli from drifting away from the green target marker on the ground plane of the sim. This has helped me to do travelling pirouetting circuits upright like pirouetting circles. I'm now nearly able to do inverted pirouetting circles and travel moves.

Keep at it thats the main thing. It took me months to get it right on the sim before I tried it with the 130x. I then went on to my trex 450 and other bigger helis. Somedays inverted backwards seems easier than upright flight. Outright I'd say sim sim sim and a little more sim time for good measure

And if I can do it pretty much anyone can. It's just that people like myself takes a lot more time and practice before it eventually clicks.
