  • Newbie advice on kit to buy.

    Hi

I was given a Syma s107G & a Syma F3 for my birthday & I want to get in further. I have got on OK with the S107G & had some fun with the camera.

The F3 I am having difficulty setting up, it drifts sideways & backwards & I can't adjust it on the Tx. Any tips on set this up would be great, I can't find much on it on internet. Any pointers would be great.

I have been considering my next move.

I am thinking of buying a E-Flite Blade mCPX v2 BNF with a DX6i. This hope will giveme better platform & a Tx I can use on a SIM.

But the mCPX v2 appears to be superseded by the brushless version at nearly twice the price.

I am thinking if I buy a DX6i (& it works) it may improve the F3 adjustments. I can also use it with a SIM for practice. Then the MCPX will give me a step forwards, although this maybe a better platform to learn on.

    So my questions:

    DX6i
will this connect to my computer for a SIM?
Can I use it with the F3, would I need the Rx module?
Do I need just the Tx for the MCPX or do I need a module?

    MCPX
What is the difference between the 2 models?
Is the brushless version worth the extra?

    SIM
I have read a sweeping statement that the free versions are no good.
What is a good SIM that is not too expensive?

Thanks for an help you can give.

hi there dx6 will be purfekt for sim. don't think u can use it on syma and the v2 and brushless are a world apart

the mcpx will be just fine for hovering indoors and out for that matter its a fun little thing. bt it does become a little bit poo once u start flyng the better stuff i.e 250 upwards (I missed the all important 130x ) if you want some performance and a heli that just works for what it is and massive silly fun after you've gone bigger bl all the way

so in shortmcpx for hover and normal flight mcpx BL if you going to keep after learning hover

    all the best terry

edit phoenix is a great sim so is real flight I believe is too these days but quite pricey. also phoenix you can buy second hand and is updateable from any version free real flight you have to pay for each update

Probably worth having a look through this thread from just before XMAS : http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/beginn...-panicing.html

It will explain many of your questions - including questions you haven't thought of yet!

It's also worth taking a good look through this site, as it contains loads of really good info for people looking to get into the hobby! RC Helicopters, The Most Fun And Rewarding Of All RC Hobbies.

I started the same as you I then went on to a blade msrx fixed pitch that took a little time to get used to as it's worlds apart from the syma I have just bought a mcpx v1 and I am hovering but with very begginer settings I also use a dx6 and pheonix flight sim
        Syma s107g
        syma s33
        blabe msrx
        blade mcpx v1
        hubsan x4 v1
        align 450 clone
        spektrum dx6i
        pheonix v3
