Hi all I'm new to this forum and new to rc heli's my mum got my son one for crimbo after a couple of goes I got on net and ordered myself a blade msr x not really ideal for learning with and I've had to fix it a few tines but I'm loving it anyway! The other day I was having a go in garden an my heli managed to find the only water to crash land in was only about half inch but heli was on it's side put my transmitter down whipped battery out and stripped it there wasn't really any water in there but dried it off oiled bearings then put it somewhere warm when I went back to it nxt day couldn't find the transmitter managed to leave it out all night in pouring rain, nightmare! so I've stripped it dried it off an left it 48hrs now when I try to fly the rotor doesn't get up to a decent speed until at least 3/4 throttle on then it just all comes in a burst from floor to ceiling very fast! I've checked my main gear and replaced batterys in heli and transmitter but I don't have a clue wether it was the crash a wet heli or wet transmitter! please help.

hi, im very new to this hobby as well, but if your using the rtf transmitter, may be worth upgrading to the spektrum dx6i anyhow, i found mine loads easier to fly with this than the transmitter they come with..

Thanks for the reply! Im planning on looking into clubs when I get a little better not had chance to yet an I do plan on getting an upgrade for the transmitter but if I do that then it turns out to be the board on the heli don't think I'd have the cash for that! Good idea on the hobby shop front though might have to have a hunt for one can anyone recommend one in the hull area

You realistically do need to check with another TX, but my guess would be that the TX is the problem. The motor on the msrX will simply spin up to the value specified by the onboard electronic speed controller (ESC). That's completely on a PCB with no moving parts, so is likely to be either working or broken.
The TX on the other hand has a potentiometer to translate stick movement into a throttle value - it's more likely that the potentiometer is broken and records nothing up to a certain position, then shows high throttle.
A DX6i will make it easier to fly too.Tom

The MSRx is actually a very nice heli to learn on. A quick question about your son's heli. Is that a Blade micro with a Blade RTF transmitter as well? If so, you could try binding your MSRx to his transitter temporarily in order to eliminate your transmitter as the faulty item.Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days lived

Thanks tom that's what I was hoping for and it's no great loss I would of ended up upgrading soon anyway could kick myself still though!.
Bob my sons is a big beast of a thing called "the virtually indestructible rc helicopter" not even sure who it's made by but its not compatable had a fiddle already! Im enjoying learning with the blade not that I've a lot to compare it to but I like taking things apart as well which helps and I've got a load of spares at the ready and can't wait to start upgrading but think I need get the basics sorted first!
I'm in hull do we have any clubs based here. I know a few people fly up on Westwood in beverley.

LOL! - Your son will soon discover that the "virtually indestructible rc helicopter" is anything but indestructible. Unfortunately, these "toy grade" helicopters do come in ridiculous sizes these days. Size makes no difference as they are no more capable than their tiny siblings! You can tell the difference between your son's heli and yours - not by the fact that the msr is single rotor versus your co-axial, but more by the fact that your son's heli has a tail rotor which is horizontal rather than vertical - the classic sign of a very limited helicopter toy!
As for the radio - yes, toy heli radios are very simplistic, and are often infra-red rather than radio. Typically, they are analogue devices on 27Mhz. In contrast, hobby-grade radios are computerised and all transmit on 2.4Ghz. Their technology is much more akin to something like "bluetooth" insofar that you need to pair a radio with a helicopter - so called "binding" - before you can fly them together.
Not only that, but your radio will be "Mode 2", and the msrx is 4-channel. Mode-2 is a definition how stick movements relate movement on the helicopter. The toy radio will be neither Mode-2 nor 4-channel (toy helis are 3-channel). In short, not only is the TX incompatible, but also the sticks would give the wrong input to the helicopter!
