more or less, there are some different modes ie. throttle on mode 2 is on left, on mode 1 its on right but the DX7 is a good one

New things sometimes have problems. After a year they are usually sorted. Problems with equipment do happen, but are much less likely than our own mistakes. Futaba has a good reputation. There are few problems with the DX7. It is difficult to tell from forum posts though as we don't know how many have been sold of any particular make. E-Flite are very popular for smaller helis and indoor models.

To get more out of transmitter than a DX7 DSM2 can do you need to be a very, very good pilot.
There are just a few things that the mixes and #switches on the DX7 don't do that well, for example being able to setup a nitro governor on the 7th channel so that you can have two controlled head speeds.
I found a way to do that, but then only ever flew one head speed anyway!

Ian a DX7 is usually more than your average beginner can handle put it that way.

I prefer the dx7 to the newer models because it's smaller and easier to hold and reach the sticks with my short fingers.

All the DX7'S are the same yes, there may be an age difference between some, and some may have more scratches etc, but they are all the same.
