I have limited heli experience but much a do, I decided to buy an HK 500 cmt. I had a radio already, was given a gyro, got Align cyclic and tail servos from ebay for £70, then bought a turnigy lipo, esc and motor. Overall, the whole rig cost less than my Twister 3D Storm rtf, a little over £200. Sure, I've broken a couple of bits when hitting the deck, but I've replaced with align, but the point is, I built a 500 size heli, capable of simple stuff (as am I) which I found to be reliable, for not much at all.
In my experience, there are good and bad ones, and forum addicts seem to gravitate toward the letting people know of the bad ones. I had a good one, so there.
Hi, what ever you do don't get the hk250 as it just falls to bits!!!!!!!! I watched my mates maiden and it got about a foot of the floor and the whole tail fell to bits so he jumped on it lol. I brought the hk450 gt which has the belt and to be honest when you crash just once hard enough the head is f**k** and also my tail casing just fell apart on me so now mine has an original head, boom, tail, main gear and align blades so I wish i'd brought a original
to be honest I found the members advice really helpful as every little info helps....I actually spent couple quid on my previous mini titan and with that amount I could have easily started out nice n smooth maybe I could have even got a FBL ...but its never to late and I think I know which direction I am going to go.
its a shame I can not join the FBL trend due to the funding...but as long as I am up in the air I am happy . I actually did not even know FBL system existed when I got into the hobby!!
