  • throttle hold is the devil

I managed to drill the Mini T into the ground this afternoon.
During a landing I went to change the idle up back to normal and accidentally knocked the throttle hold, Although at only about six feet I realised and flicked it back just as it was about to bury itself which only made it worse, I was so stunned I watched it beat itself to death for a couple of seconds before hitting the throttle hold again.
The bent or broken list is going to be long!!!

I have throttle hold and idle up switches on opposite sides of the tx. If that is not possible then at least use the switches that are the furthest apart.

I have idle ups top left of TX and throttle hold top right. I use red shrink tubing over the switches to remind me. I use blue for the gyro gain and black for my dual rates. Might not have any relevance to this post but it definately helps you remember that throttle hold is actually there and where abouts it is.

tail slide into the ground, also long list of bits, but at least they are cheap and a lot come in pairs so you have something ready for the next time

Ouch that looks a fair prang, as you say most bits are fairly cheap but with a big crash it can soon mount up. Hope it all goes back together OK

I did a nice tailslide into the ground with my 450, managed about £250 of damage! Didnt help my padles chopped my 401 in two. Destroyed a FP Evo 2500 battery, a set of mainiacs, nice glass canopy and pretty much every shaft/belt/gear/bearing ect.... great tailslide though.

On to topic, we all make mistakes, sure you will be back in the air soon.

                    damn, unlucky

i have been doing something quite similar, been hitting throttle hold about 10-15 ft off the deck thinking im changing into normal mode ... when you not expecting it the heli drops pretty fast , havnt broken anything as yet , even though the heli has done a few cart wheels on the ground

Ouch, that's gotta hurt. I tried setting up a throttle hold on my BCX2, hmm, not a good idea, with flightpower batt. it goes up, with standard batt. it drops like a brick. Though at least it doesn't pile in like that. Hope you get airborne again soon, and it don't cost too much.
