Just thought id say that the Model Helicopter World magazine has started fresh in the idle up section of full set up procidures on your helicopter . I found this very interesting reading while I was learning .

I read that as well. I presume all helis are set up according to the manufacturers spec. as it states in the mag that at mid throttle stick position you should have 5 degrees positive, my Blade 400 manual states at this position there should be 0 degrees ... Just a thought !!

My mini titan manual suggests 0 degs at midstick also.
Surely +5 degs that would mean the heli would try to lift off before it had enough power?

You program the throttle curve in your transmitter accordingly to match the pitch curve.
With the hover point set at mid stick and with the pitch curve set at -3 +5 +9 you will find it easier as a beginner to start the hovering practice as the stick movement is spread out more.
Once you have gained the hand eye coordination and timing then move on to the 3D style pitch curve of -10 0 +10
