Trust me, it won't take long to get used to. For the moment however, try to keep the tail pointing towards you so that the cyclic controls (right stick - elevator and aileron) always give the input you expect to the heli. As you gain confidence, you can move to 45-degree orientations and side-on. Nose-in flying is the first big milestone as left/right/forward/back are all reversed. Try maintaining that stable hover when all the controls are backwards!

Enjoy! And have paypal at the ready for all the spares you'll need! My bet is the skids will be the first spares you'll need!
OK, that makes a lot of sense.

Spare Batteries are already the first thing on my list, I reckon 3 spares and one in the heli is the best place to start giving me approx 20 mins flying time in total.

Thanks again to all for your advice and help and a happy new year!

      Matt

P.S. You've made my Dad very jealous, apparently he's always wanted an RC Heli...

It's great fun, you won't regret it!

Out of interest, why did you choose to get a Blade MSRx when you've already got two Syma's according to your sig?

        Thanks,

        Matt

Tell your Dad to get one then. He is not too old. I started with a co-ax heli at the age of 62 then bought the 450 at 63. I am now 65 and I am flying circuits, figure 8 and nose in. I am enjoying it tremendously.

The symas are just coaxial and I wanted the next step up so the msrx seemed a good choise

                Hi,

Sorry for the delay in posting, Three kids, a busy work life and constant attempts to get a computer controlled model railway built as well as a lack of decent places to fly have meant I've not been on here much.

I've managed to get to a point where I can get the MSRx to hover tail in and even fly around a bit (banking left/right or forward/back and returning to a vague hover) with the RTF remote, however I've bitten the bullet and bought a DX6i from a colleague who's moving away and wanted to get rid cheaply!

I've already had my heli bound to the DX6i at work a few times and the difference in control over the RTF TX that comes in the box is astounding - we've almost managed to tweak the settings to allow for a hands-off hover!

Now that I've got a decent TX, I'm more inclined to find somewhere indoors to fly - I've noticed that the local leisure centre allows you to hire the hall for £30/hours so if I can get a few friends together with their stuff too...

                Cheers,

                Matt

Yeah, I'm looking in to that tonight, my nearest flying clubs are over 20 miles away so either there's no demand locally or people are willing to travel that far!

I assume I start with the BMFA's website?

Possibly a tad excessive for an msrx? Definitely from 250 onwards though ...

I don't remember that! ... I do remember racing my 130x against your 250DFC and hitting myself with my own 130X! LOL :-)

When are you coming flying again?
