For that sort of money you are in Trex450 area and that would be by far the better heli, or a blade 400 that comes with a 2.4ghz radio for less than 300 quid.

For the money you could buy a blade 400 and a few spare batteries, deffinately the best choice.

OK, this deal blows the Blade 400 clean out of the water.

Great deal but I'd feel very brave if I was going to learn my first single blade flights on a Heli I built!

Otherwise if you want RTF I would stick with something cheap i.e. a base King II and you won't mind breaking it as much or the blade if you want the 2.4ghz. Even that is a complex rebuild after even the lightest crash!

Havin the heli sitting in front of you at take off rpm is a daunting prospect after a Lama, are you sure you are up to it?

I good sim might be the next step?

                        Rubbish!
I'd MUCH rather fly something I have built and not some overworked kid in a chinese sweat shop! Most if not ALL ARTF's should be checked over by a competent person before it's flown.
Building up the kit's also means you have some clue how to take it apart and replace bits when it crashes.
I'd agree a decent SIM is the best way to go though

You are more confident of your building skills than I was then!

I can't wait to build my own and you are right about the quality. But that is now based on my understanding what I own and the hobby. That wasn't the case at first for sure!

It's deffinately a case of horses for courses.
When I started there were no ARTF 'learner' helis I bought and built up my piccolo FP myself and back in those day's the usual responses were
'if you can't build and maintain it, you shouldn't be in the hobby'
but with the advent of ARTF's this attitutude is slowly changing and there are a lot more total newbies entering into the world of RCH's than there ever was.

                              Cheers

Thanks for all the advice. I will start with abetter sim as i only have a esky at the moment. Sounds like the Trex and the Blade 400 are the way to go. Looks like there are some good deals out there. What about as Stringfellow suggest getting a basic king first. Maybe i will ask my girl friend and see what she has to say?
