Hopefully, it's for friendly, non-judgemental discussion, help and advice. If you've got nothing better to add than this, can I kindly suggest you unsubscribe from this thread and go and read something you're interested in, rather than make comments like this which help no-one.Originally posted by 1chris View PostGood God!! Tom....Thank you for your kind words...I much appreciate them!!!!! however, how many hundreds of times have we seen this kind of post on this forum, you know , and I know that this op has no true interest in the hobby, you are wasting your typing finger even replying to them
I appreciate that the post it is in a beginners forum (I can read), but this post was not originally written as a beginner trying to understand the hobby, there is a rake of useless information available from hobby shops, internet etc.on "fly by night" toy helicopters which is all this person really wants to purchase. You pay your money and take your choice, they are all rubbish as we know
There is no point to people posting here going through transmitters, helicopter set ups and all the other ancillary equipment associated with the hobby because they have £50 plus or minus £10 to spend and that is their lot. I was not trying to be rude, none helpful or what ever you may think.... just telling it as I see it

?! You should be using everything but your thumbs Chris, it is much faster.
I think many on here enjoy "talking shop" so to speak. Im sure if they could not be bothered they would just not reply or help out at all.Last edited by SaneAdam; 05-12-2013, 10:03 PM.Stainburn Helicopter Club

^^+1 I must say I'm truly shocked at some peoples pointless admissions to not help someone asking for help. This forum has always been there for me with many people contributing and I see no reason why help in return shouldn't be passed on.

Right guys, I'm going for it! Thanks to the person who posted that link to the comparison site, I've contacted various suppliers and they've reduced their prices to compete with each other, so it might not work out too expensive after all. I know it seems silly stressing over an extra £20, but I'm self employed and struggling right now. Still, I've had a couple of babysitting bookings so I feel able to justify it.
I'm excited, I can't wait to see my brother's face! He's got a RC boat already so I know it's his 'thing'. Thank you all so much for your support and advice - if it weren't for you I would have made a big mistake! Peace on Earth and goodwill to all men!!! (Even you Chris, though you might want to ask for a 'Knicker de-twister' for Christmas?)
Seriously, Happy Christmas guys - have a great one!

Merry crimble to you too! Do your brother a favour and make him aware that it's NOT a toy grade helicopter! He'll get the most our of it if he does a little research first (not much! - nothing too onerous!). Also, to get the most out of that helicopter, he'll need to take it SLOWLY. Hover low to the ground first, keeping the tail pointing towards him.
The msrX is capable of flying outside. But, that ability is a slight two-edged sword. Unlike the toy helis you were looking at, the msrX is pretty capable in the sky. That means - a little more difficult to fly too! But, so long as he doesn't try to run before he can walk - he should be OK!
There's a good intro into learning how to fly a heli here : RC Helicopter Controls and Flight Theory and How To Fly RC Helicopters

It would be a wonderful thing if LittleSister could post on here after Christmas and tell us whether her brother liked it (and whether he appreciated the hard work that went into the decision making process).Tron 7.0 advance Vbar evo V Control

Just to check, with the Blade mSR, which bits are most likely to succumb to the bashing first, and need replacing? I know my bro will be careful with it, but just in case? I was thinking maybe my parents would buy some replacement bits for his birthday, on Boxing day.

Landing skids always take a beating. Blades and canopy probably next. What's worth buying in advance though is some extra batteries. mSRX LIPOs are only a few quid a pop and will extend your brother's flying time ..Tom
