500 questions

Hi there ,

just a few quick questions

i currently have a 450 and have seen a 500 fly barred for a really good price but i don't think it comes with gyro or servos

im on a budget so not looking for top spec stuff just something that will get it in the air and will be half decent until i can upgrade at a later date

my first question is - can i fly a 500 with my dx6i ?

Secondly - if it doesn't come with a gyro what budget one would you recommend ?

and lastly for now - what servos will get me in the air for some general flying around ? nothing crazy like 3d or anything but maybe the occasional loop

1) yes you can fly on dx6 2) Spartan quark £30 ish s/hand 3) might as well bye half decent servos now rather than waste money and setting twice

Is the Spartan quark a reliable gyro then ? is it future proof-ish or will i have to end up changing it a few months down the line

Are the servos you listed half decent or are they just to get it in the air ? , so i will be needing 4 of them (correct me if im wrong )

What is a good but budget tail servo as i don't fancy having to fight with it all the time , i mean there isn't much point getting the Spartan gyro if i have a rubbish tail servo is there

atm im looking at about spending £20 a servo for the time being , will this be enough to get some decent servos that will do the job or do i need to widen the budget ?

Spartan quark best gyro for value for money, imo servo will get you in the air and flyin for a year or so. 3 for cyclics 4th servo is the one to spend the money on ds520 or 525 for the money are pretty good. if your going to stick with bye decent stuff once

Gyros have improved a lot. The Assan 250 for £10 will do for what you want. Any servos will do as well. It really depends on how often you crash. Servos with nylon gears will limit the damage to the gears which are cheap and easy to change. Blade prices tend to be higher than align prices, especially for main blades. Spares tend to cost a lot. There are good clones as well.

I don't understand how you have been out of things for a while and yet have a 130-X?? Flybarless is very good now and the controllers start at £50 or so.

since creating this thread the 500 frame that i had originally spotted has been sold but i have been looking around for another one and came across this one -
a align trex with carbon frame with futaba s-9257 tail servo , spare rotor head and carbon paddles for £150

is this an alright price ? its from Midlands models

with regards to the electrics

when i eventually get a 500 i will be using

DS525 digital servo for the tail - like you guys have said buy once , is this a future proof servo for what i need it to do ?

i have been looking on fast lad and saw this servo which is currently in the sale KDS N590 Digital Tail Servo KDS-N590 2004-2 this has the same-ish specs as the 525 by the looks of it , will this be a good tail servo ?

as for cyclic servos im still looking but i have a rough idea

i will be using my dx6i

anything else i have missed ?
