    Hi everyone,

I am just starting out in rc heli's and i can't decide which heli to start on.I was gonna buy a Honey Bee (cp2 or king2) that i have read are good for starting out, But my LMS said to go for the cx2 or blade 400, I want to fly outdoors so would the blade 400 be better to start on?
    PLEASE HELP!!! thanx.

ps this place is great! seems very friendly especially to newbies.

for a first heli CX2 and phoenix sim, fly indoors. Once you have the hang of that and phoenix then look at getting something bigger

          Thanks,
Everywhere i look the cx2 is the one but i just want to get outdoors and not stuck in .I have flown a 2 channel heli (and crashed!)as best as i can but it didn't go forward or backward,Just where the wind took it.
Plus i have a small house so flying indoors looks a bit scary !

the cx2 can be flown outdoors but only in perfectly still weather. and yes the blade 400 would be better outdoors but its a brave leap to go staight to the 400 it could cost you dear in spares and repairs. hence the phoenix sim is a must have!

Get the sim first. See how you get on with the models in that. The blade 400 is a bit of a handful, even without the real life influences of wind and mechanical imperfections.

I had a look around at all the sims I could. Pheonix is the second cheapest and the one that is recomended most on here. Certainly feels the part to me.

I got it from buzzflier.co.uk £100 inc a transmitter. Next day delivery on the cheapest postage option.

Personally I'm weighing up the choice of the prebuilt blade 400 or building up a Trex 450S for £60 more.

Avoid the esky. If my work collegues is anything to go by, it'll spend its entire time being setup or in bits.

Also, hi. Seem to be a lot of local people on here

Hi Spoony... Ive been flying since just before xmas. My route was Blade CX2, then upgrades to CX2 from Canada, Blade 400 3D (which I found very difficult next to the CX2) which I then managed to bend!. Then followed instruction and flight sim time on Real Flight G3.5. Now Im flying an Elctric T-Rex600 which I find quite easy to fly in comparisson to the Blade 400. Its very stable and forgiving. Blade is still 'bent' so I can't say if its my instruction that has helped stability or whether the TRex is just well set-up. Anyway, welcome to the money pit :-)

a trex 600 will be massivly more stable than the little blade 400. the bigger the heli the easier they are to hover!
however the blade can be calmed down to help with the twitchyness

                      Thanx,
Just had a look at the t-rex 600 online and the price seems quite good although there's no mention of a controller possibly extra? it's included with the blade.

the 600 is a kit spoony you would need servo's gyro transmiter and reciever + batteries and charger a good set up can be £800+

Welcome to the forum mate, trust the advise the guy's have given you, the CX2 will be more than a handful when you start if you take this road, but £80ish spent on Phoenix will just show you when you start practicing how unprepared your be if you take a 400 outside and off, it'll be damaged within 5 seconds guaranteed.

Take stock of the advise, I did, and it takes months of practice just to do the basics, this is one hobby that if you rush I hope your wallet is as capacious as an Elephants Scrotum
