  • From BCX2 and Skylift to.....?

I've had my eye on the Blade 400, which looks a beauty. However, I've seen an E-Sky HoneyBee for just 80 Quid, and I got to thinking that in view of what I read the CP helis are really hard to fly, so would a better choice for me be the Honey Bee? I'm told those helis burn their motors out quickly, while CP's are more expensive in a crash, and that I'm seriously likely to crash A blade 400.

So to Boggy and those in the know, next step coming up but do I go for what I really like the look of, or buy the cheaper model and get the hang of a tail rotor first, then get the other later on in the season....?

Go with the blade 400 great heli and great value! parts are more readily available and its on 2.4ghz which these days is a grweat bonus, the spektrum dx6 that blade comes with is a gem!

ive not flown a honey bee so can't comment there mate. but the 400 is a great little heli, and with a few tweaks can be made very stable and easy to fly. and as andy says you get the dx6i with it!! the repair costs are minimal and the spare's are multi packed so you will soon build up a nice stock of spares aswell

Thanks guys, settled then, I'm on hols early to mid april, not going anywhere so will probably get her then.

I'm waiting on a DX6i to arrive from Simply T-Rex at the mo'. Thanks Andy, Thanks Ron.

You guys put me right last time, and I defer to your superior knowledge on this one. Especially as I love my CX2 so much and absolutely love flying the 400 on Phoenix. So much for my original goal of staying with Coax's. LOL

i've been told by someone that the esky brand arent to great. Go for the blade, thats on my wish list for progression onto cp. Cant wait to get it, just saving up the money, plus then I can go out and get the trex 450 and use the same parts from the blade (or so I have been told (again))

Completely, I've seen a TREX 450, it's a nice bit of kit, but a bit pricey for what I'd like. If Dave Herbert of Mr Herbert's Science class is to be believed (look on Youtube for him, he flew RC stuff for Blue Thunder movie) then the B400 is purpose built around it's electrics. It was designed the way it was.

Ron, aren't both helis supposedly in the same class anyway? Both 400 class?

i honesley cant see it alex the ccpm set up is completley different. as is the tail belt drive.the motor mounts not the same so if he means just interchanging the head whats the point? the trex one is better!

Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant as regards is a TREX really what you would call an 'upgrade' from the Blade 400? I could understand going to a 500 or even a 600, but why would you want to go from a B400 to a REx 450?

i wouldn't call it an upgrade ,but the trex is without doubt a better standard of helicopter. but then the cost reflects this. as you know the blade is ready to fly with 2.4 ghz radio for £269 or thereabouts. you could argue that you can kit out the trex cheaply but then whats the point! it will only be as good as the blade and still cost moresame applies for this gl clone, if its as good as you say guys why upgrade with trex parts? just use the cheap clone bits.!!!or are you just buying a trex by stealth?
