  • Lost my mo-jo

    Hi guys and girls

Ive been flying for a while, and have a trex 450 & 550. Over the last few months ive had less and less time to fly due to work commitments and now think that ive lost my "umph" to get out and fly

Anyone have any tips/advice how to snap out of this

    Thanks

After range problems with my DX7S and a number of crashes which were not my fault, I felt the same recently, had cheap helis which were second hand (apart from my 300X which was a bit of an impulse purchase if I'm honest) along with most of my kit, decided to sell up. Got rid of the lot and am having a break for a while, going to get my funds together and get myself a Goblin, join a club, get insurance and do it properly once a week instead of playing at it over at the local park a couple of nights a week after work!

Now I don't have any helis, I dont feel like I HAVE to fly at every opportunity and I'm enjoying doing my research into my next setup. I think a lot of people feel the same at some point, even the hardcore guys who fly all the time.

I think the answer is in your learning. Have small achievable goals so you don't get bored or despondent. I still remember the buzz I got from nose in inverted. Then tail in. Then circuits. I still go back and practice those but need a new baby step now.

It comes and it goes, thats just the way it is. If its gone for a while dont worry, the urge will return at some point. if it doesnt, then its time for a new hobby.....

Alternatively, get yourself a 600 nitro and see how you feel then! I think it will make you smile

+1, plan your baby steps before you leave for the field and you'll go home smiling.

I had the same thing, I didn't touch a Heli from September last year until about March this year as I just CBA! Now I've got back into it and bought a 130x (OK two actually, one new and one second hand as spares) so I can fly at a moments notice wherever I like as one's always kept in the car boot at all times. This was part of the reason I'd lost interest as the Mcpx was a temperamental little bugger and no matter what I tried the tail kept blowing out so it got relegated to the parts box. It's not easy to take the 450 out at lunch as the only place near me I could fly in lunch was a piece of unfinished tarmac road on the Industrial Estate (where I totalled my 500 after dumbthumbing it full chat into the tarmac) which does not inspire confidence and so I found myself only being able to fly every other weekend when I went to see the kids as there was no suitable field near me I could fly at safely. I soon lost interest in flying.

I'm now in the process of thinning my fleet down to just the 130x's and a Trex 550. This means I can keep less spares and most importantly the 550 will fit in the boot of the car without folding down the seats (which was a PITA for when I go up North to see the kids, and go flying at the club I belong to, as I didn't want to leave the car anywhere with the 700N or Rappy sticking out in the back.) These changes have given me my mojo back and I'm starting to push my flying again and most importantly enjoying it!

Yeah ive been off the boil for the last couple of weeks, didn't even bother going the field on sunday and that's unheard of! Im always there without fail but not been feeling 100% recently which hasn't helped either. Looking forward to the flyin this weekend though and hoping to get back in the saddle so to speak
